Mmmmmmm
My only shock here is that the usual left wing cabal are pretending to be shocked. Do we really expect any of our politicians to have a straight moral compass?

Re: Farage and his pot of gold
I think Starmer's glasses are important and he deserved all of the flak that came his way on them. Maybe it's not fair on my part, but I've always expected Labour politicians to have enough of a social conscience to realise how bad it looks for someone from a party with their history to be seen to be taking freebies from rich businessmen. There's probably stuff out there to prove me wrong here, but I can't imagine previous Labour leaders like Michael Foot, John Smith, Gordon Brown and Jeremy Corbyn doing it because they'd know what it would make them look like.Originally posted by Dave Blue View PostWhat’s £5m when compared to a pair of glasses? Come on, Nigel has to put bread on the table too.
A criticism of those at the top of the current Labour party is that they've become the "establishment" with little knowledge of what life is like living outside of the SW1 bubble they inhabit. The news which broke only a few weeks after the 2024 election about Starmer and Reeves accepting freebies only adds strength to such opinions, as the two people with the most important jobs in Government seemed oblivious to how bad it would make them look - particularly in view of the way they both, rightly, savaged the previous Government for some of the antics of their senior figures.
That said, I agree that Farage is on a completely different level of self serving to Starmer and a speech to Reform members at the height of the freebies story in which he shows the audience his new glasses and says something lije the difference between me and Starmer is that I paid for mine has not aged well.
Farage is a grifter with the evidence growing on an almost daily basis that money is his main motivation in life. That's why the £5 million story does not surprise me because that's what Farage is all about - call me naive, but I expect better from senior Labour politicians.

It's a career for most and these donations, payments are seen as "perks'.
I'll give Farage his due, he's more on the bung than Johnson.

In no particular order, vocal left wingers on this forum include
DTM - was happy to take the advice of accountants to reduce his tax and NI contributions when he was a consultant
TOBW - was happy to trouser significant cash sum when his parents Right To Buy former council house was sold
Mick The Miller - was happy to inherit a sum of cash and go quaffing champagne in the high rise bars of Hong Kong
Almost all left wingers are great at spending other peoples' money, but when it is their own they really do not have courage in their convictions. Its the rank hypocrisy and the fact none can see the hypocrisy is wonder of the modern world
meh!

Re: Farage and his pot of gold
You're not wrong. What gets me is most can't see this, despite purporting to be intelligent. Yesterday we had someone arguing Angela Raynor was fit to govern even though she couldn't manage her own tax affairs accurately. There are none so blind etc...Originally posted by Jordi Culé View PostNo. Generally they're all cuunts.

This issue with Farage is just another in a long line of prominent politicians who think we're lackwit bumpkins. Throw them all in the volcano

Here's a thought, if any of it is untrue then proceed to make a claim for defamation.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostI’m not going to dignify what you say with the reply I could give - this place really is the pits lately.

by all accounts, we're allowed to criticise whoever we want, as lot as its not us.
