He also probably shops in Asda, Has bought the odd coffee from Starbucks, uses an energy company that pays massive dividends to shareholders, uses social media. You're right, he's a hypocrite for have left leaning political views when he probably does all of that as well. Shame on him.

you'll find TOBW always says he cannot understand how anyone can vote for the Tories

its the hypocrisy of criticising the Tories ad infinitum and then benefitting massively from the flagship tory policy. hopefully this clears up the confusion on your part.

Re: Farage and his pot of gold

I will revive this since reform and Farage seem intent on stepping on as many rakes as possible as they stumble around this issue.

Asked about whether the Harborne 'gift' was used to buy a 1.4 million house (no, not the 800,000 house his seemingly broke girlfriend mysteriously bought in his constituency, reform said 'no that was paid for using tv revenue (primarily I'm A Celebrity' fee). This now looks to have been a lie.

So we started at 'it was a gift for security', someone asked why 5 million wasn't enough for security to run occasional surgeries, then it became a present for campaigning for brexit (which imo makes it harder for them to say this wasn't related to politics). Reform are doing a good job of keeping this story going although I'm still seeing some resistance to report it across the media - I can't think why.

The fundamental issue here is, if as suggested by the entire media some glasses and suits put Starmer firmly in the pocket of Lord Alli, what does 5 (might be even be 6 by now if you believe Ben Habib) million buy?

FYI Ben Habib has suggested that Boris and Farage were paid 1 million each by Harborne in 2022, indicating that this was a payment linked to the standing down of Brexit party candidates in 2019. Whether there is any proof of that, I don't know.

Of course this isn't as important as TOBW selling his parents council house but interesting nonetheless.

Your last para is an odd thing to say. You can quite correctly hold Farage and Johsnon to account for their shady dealings as well as the tripe they feed the press, and simultaneously also pass comment on the hypocrisy of some of those who purport to be left wing. They are not mutually exclusive.

To be clear, almost all on the left are excellent at spending other peoples money, but where it comes to their own, there is almost always a reason/excuse why its different this time. Hypocrites, the lot of them.

We had a whole thread on right to buy a while back. My dad rejected the opportunity to buy his mum's flat in London for peanuts via right to buy, it cost him well over 500k, I respect him for taking the stance at personal cost but everyone makes different decisions and I don't see taking the opposite route as disqualifying bob from having opinions. I don't really understand where it would end if you start going down that route (is a lefty who believes privatisation hasn't worked allowed to work for a company that could be nationalised) and putting all that aside, it was a bit of an unrelated cheapshot on your part.

Also not entirely sure where the 'someone else's money' jibe comes from, is it legally not theirs?

It also all inhibits actual conversation.

I already explained elsewhere and I'll repeat it here for expediency. TOBW continually makes comments "I cannot understand how anyone can vote Tory" yet is quite happy to benefit from what was the most Tory of policies. Ignoring the arrogance of assuming everyone has to think the same way as him, its ridiculous hypocrisy, as well you know.

I'm not suggesting people cannot have opinions, au contraire, you'll find the crux of everything I write is about personal freedoms and the abhorrence that is the state which seeks to remove those freedoms. I just find that the emptiest vessels make most noise, in this case those purporting to be left wing and/or socialists are happy to make everyone pay tax but are happy to benefit from the very system they purportedly despise.

Anyway, its been done to death, you've articulated your position and you're ok with hypocrisy. Unlike others, I have courage in my convictions and practice what I preach.

How about a huge amount of people with Right wing beliefs benefiting from Left Wing policies, of which i would have thought there to be millions in this country. As you probably know, the right to buy scheme was skewed almost as a way of privatising council house stock, the rents went up and it was cheaper in many cases for people to buy the property. I don't think it's as simple as just checking your own political beliefs, if that was the case people who consider themselves left wing wouldn't be able to eat or travel, join pension schemes in work etc. I know that you're referencing a single issue, but we live in a Capitalist country and it's a bit ****ing difficult in not having to subscribe to it from time to time, even if a person considers themself Left Wing, same with those who are right wing.

All valid but you missed the point. TOBW is always blethering on about how he cannot comprehend anyone voting Tory, yet he himself benefits massively from their flagship policy. Do as I say not as I do.

If TOBW had courage in his convictions he would have refused the windfall, preferring to give it to charity or back to the state. As is always the case, its easy to say how you want society to be run, but when its your own money at stake those beliefs quite often evaporate, as if they didn't exist at all.

As for you brining the right wing in, according to some the only purpose of the right is to benefit the self, so I don't really see your point.

This forum is supposed to designed for discussion, not echo chambers such as yours. The value of a forum comes from the diversity of perspectives, even the ones you don’t agree with. Otherwise, it just becomes a “yes-man club” where nothing new gets learned.

The trick is engaging respectfully with ideas you disagree with: questioning, debating, and considering them without automatically dismissing them. That’s how forums actually work. I wonder if you’re going to throw your teddy out of the cot and ask for FB to be banned like countless other accounts

When someone posts something you disagree with you bring out that old chestnut. You're such a delicate little wallflower DTM, who would want to be in the trenches with you?
