Re: Coronavirus update
No one is quite sure yet how often we'll need to be vaccinated, so having a potential supply in hand for maybe next year is a very prudent approach.Originally posted by Vindec View PostThe BBC article quoted in the TOBW post and my earlier post states:
"In total, the UK has now ordered 367 million doses of vaccines to protect against Covid-19."
However the 367m I suppose might include orders for vaccines that have yet to be approved.

Re: Coronavirus update
Nothing to do with Covid, but I was reading today about Cornish fish for the EU being left to rot because of delays sorting the paperwork at the port. Apparently the documents have to be printed in every language used in the EU before the fish can be exported, and they have to be examined by a vet for disease etc. !!Originally posted by BLUETIT View PostBut have they printed enough triplicate forms to fill in ?

And di you beleive that/? All those languages? Do you really think that every nation in the world that exports things to the EU completes forms in 27 languages?Originally posted by lisvaneblue View PostNothing to do with Covid, but I was reading today about Cornish fish for the EU being left to rot because of delays sorting the paperwork at the port. Re: Coronavirus update
I looked again and you are right. The documents have to prepared in the language of each EU country the exports travel through to reach their destination. So not quite as bad, but still cumbersome if going for instance to Italy or GreeceOriginally posted by xsnaggle View PostAnd di you beleive that/? All those languages? Re: Coronavirus update
If the EU apply that standard to all imported goods no wonder they have found it difficult to reach trade agreements with other countries.Originally posted by lisvaneblue View PostI looked again and you are right. Re: Coronavirus update
Lots of tests shown in the Wales stats, so 2,300 new cases doesn’t seem too bad. In fact, although I realise it’s wrong to base too much on one day, the figures would indicate that the lockdown is having an effect in South Wales, but there’s a problem in the north where, apparently, the new variant has arrived

Re: Coronavirus update
There were a high number of tests done though, so I don't think the fact they are weekend figures comes into it that much as far as new cases are concerned.Originally posted by xsnaggle View PostBut it isthe weekend. we will probably see a rise tomorrow and/or tuesday, the same as for the last 9 months
Changing subject, I've heard talk about Vitamin D can play a part in lessening the effectiveness of Covid, looking at this, there may be something to it;-
