Re: Deli Ali
Fair play him putting it out there.
Jose Mourinho was particularly scathing about him in his time at Tottenham and his dip in form seemed to start when JM arrived, perhaps his "coaching style" didn't get the best out of Ali.
I now have even less time for him I hear this.
Good luck Deli.

Re: Deli Ali
I've been disappointed in him for a few seasons, I thought it was booze and women. I was very sorry to read about all his problems. Everton are helping out and I hope he manages to come through OK and get back to be the sort of player everyone expected him to be. After all he's gone through in his short life it's what he deserves.

It is something we could take on board as fans in terms fo criticism of players which can be extremely vitriolic and we don't necessarily know the back story to a person's life etc.Originally posted by MacAdder View PostFair play him putting it out there.

Hope it inspires others in the limelight to share their stories as it would act as important examples of lived experience for other people not in the limelight - we have thousands of children suffering neglect abuse and poverty on a daily basis and due to austerity and the cost of living crisis the numbers are escalating daily and any light that can be shone on this that leads to improved services improved practice and eradication of profit from children's services the better in my eyes

Re: Deli Ali
Yes, all Joses fault. Hes only played for a load of other coaches and managers since and still has the same lazy, too much too young attitude. If hes not putting the effort in training then the manager has every right to pull him up on it.Originally posted by MacAdder View PostFair play him putting it out there.

What Jose told him was spot-on and proven to be correct. Dont look back your career with regrests because you didnt be the best you could be. A footballers career is too short.
Im sorry that stuff happened to him. no child deserves that, but theres only one person to blame for his career going off piste and thats himself.

I’m surprised you’ve taken that attitude, when you yourself are recovering from an addiction.Originally posted by J R Hartley View PostYes, all Joses fault. People’s mental health can be so fragile, and bad experiences can come back to haunt folk at any given time.

How long did you say you'd worked in social services again?

An addiction ive never sought to blame anyonelse for or use as an excuse. Unlike you.

Re: Deli Ali
Big credit to him for coming out. Looking back at his stats, I hadn't realised quite how good he'd been for spurs for a few seasons.
Hopefully he can get some help, sort his head out and get back to his best.
I'm no fan of Jose, he's a toxic joke of a man who should be nowhere near the game. But bit rich to blame him for Dele I think. As a manager I suppose you can only judge what you see in front of you, in terms of effort and quality. If Dele didn't go to the club or manager and let them know he had problems then they had no way of knowing.

Re: Deli Ali
People commentating on this story are again missing out on the real story, just like the BBC controversy. That is the tabloids using the old trick of digging out stories about celebrities and using them to blackmail the person to cooperate with them. This has been particular relevant with gay people over the last 30 years in outing them.
If you listen to the report on the news he reported he was speaking out sooner than he planned, due to the tabloids getting hold of the story. It is quite easy to imagine how the conversation went.
Hey Dele, we know about you having drug rehab treatment in America and now you have 2 options. We can print a sympathetic story about a footballer with issues, if you cooperate. The other story we can print if you don’t cooperate, is a story of a drug ravaged footballer escaping to America for treatment to hide his shame.

I'm assuming you didn't watch the full interview where he says Jose apologized for calling him lazy and admitted he was wrong.Originally posted by J R Hartley View PostYes, all Joses fault. He also takes full responsibility for his actions. Doesn't blame anyone else, not even his mother.
This isn't the standard case of a talented footballer pissing his career away. He experienced some incredibly complex and serious traumas that he has apparently only started to address in the last 3 months.
