    Re: Harry Kane

Kane scored 27 goals last season in a side that didn’t quality for Europe. I remember reading somewhere he scored in 26 league games, more than Haaland and a premier league record.

Weird thread this, I don't agree with you but I'm not sure what you've done wrong here. It's been the debate about Kane for years, maybe TLG hadn't heard it said before?

I googled 'Harry Kane flat-track bully' and the first five items were articles from '21, '23, '19, '18 and '17. (I'll stick the most recent one of those up if you want a read) Considering his achievements I think it's interesting that he's never quite been able to shake that tag off over all this time. His goal-scoring record should speak for itself but I don't think it's laughable if you feel he needs some big title/tournament winning performances to define him.

Some call the England manager’s role the impossible job, whilst others call it the hardest job in the world. Gareth Southgate seems to be making it look relatively easy – certainly very possible at any rate. That’s a different matter though, because both Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane might well argue that being your country’s

              Re: Harry Kane

Most strikers probably score the majority of their goals against poorer defences.

If he could only score against poor defences those who claim he's a flat track bully would have a point but as he's scored against some of the best that undermines their argument

Spot on. TLG just likes to try and make people feel stupid.

I feel sorry for him, honestly.

The man is clearly not happy and I hope things improve for him soon.

In fairness I think my personal definition of a flat track bully might be different to others as I actually rate Kane fairly highly
and going to Bayern should finally bring him much needed silverware especially domestically. I won't get excited about his scoring ratio in that league though.
I do need convincing that he'll be the man that gets Bayern another champions league though.
Playing at Spurs for so long probably hasn't helped him win anything
I've never been on the receiving end of TLG's angst before and shall try not to again!!!

The bullies are really out in force today. Nasty people, the lot of you.

Ha, don't let TLG stop you posting. Maybe a 12-year-old has hacked into his account, that would explain a lot.

I think there's only one definition of a flat-track bully, and I totally understand your point here, but while it's pretty much accepted that cricketers like Hick and Ramprakash underachieved at the big moments I don't think it can be applied to Kane in the same way. Wasn't he barely fit in that Champions League final, for example? As you say, being at Spurs didn't exactly help to fill his trophy cabinet.

Saying that, Kane is the only footballer I can think of to have been labelled a flat-track bully so often and it's surprising he hasn't been able to quite shake it off despite his relentless goal-scoring at both club and international level. Still time for him to do that though, of course.

I believe he scored 14 goals in 16 derby games against Arsenal.

9 against Liverpool, 8 against Chelsea, 6 against United, 5 against Man City. That's 42 goals against the top 5.

He's also scored against the likes of Barca, Dortmund, Juventus, CARDIFF!!

I think not showing up in big games (finals etc) is not the same as being a flat track bully. Kane will score against any team, but he probably needs to prove he's a big game player.

Well he's not bullying anyone as yet, this evening. He's on the bench for the away game at third level Preussen Münster this evening.
It's free to air on German TV (ZDF).
