I've never been a fan of VAR and would welcome scrapping it

It makes as many errors as without VAR

Its taken the excitement from scoring a goal

I don't see how some games in the FA Cup can use it and some don't, how is that allowed?

Refs hide behind it, and officiating as a whole has got a lot worse

How anywhere else on the pitch and it's a free kick to the Dutch?
I didn't write that as I was thinking it in my head.
Kane beat Dumfries to the ball by a split second resulting in Dumfries getting kicked.. Dumfries was trying to get the ball and didn't hamper Kane in taking the shot. As for his studs being up, I don't know where else they're supposed to be.

It was a goal that deserved to win any game so in the end I think England deserved it.

This 'anywhere else on the pitch' argument is a load of rubbish though. Its a ball that's dropping a few yards from goal. Am looking forward to the applause when we see City's defenders not challenging to block any shots in the box next season, just in case they touch the striker's foot afterwards.

Why f*ck about with the game in the first place, refs make mistakes, players make more mistakes, that was part of the game. Fans used to spontaneously celebrate goals, that’ll most probably soon gradually phase out. Linesmen used to immediately stick their flag up for an infringement or an offside, now you see it go up 20/30 seconds after, why? Why has the simple game become complicated ?

If they go in with studs up, miss the ball and make contact with the opponent, there’s a good chance they’ll concede a penalty. There are ways and means of blocking shots. Going in with studs up is not the best of them.

They might listen if you send it on X, if you're not banned from there again after the latest Kate Humble incident.

In fact, the ball had travelled less than a yard when Dumfries's studs connected with Kane's foot (I've just watched the highlights and paused the frame at the point of contact). This is one of the many reasons I hate VAR - slow motion replays alter our perceptions of what happened in real time, and this is a sport we're talking about, not a computer game.

One thing I know for sure (and I'm not including you in this) - if this incident had happened at the other end of the field, some of those stating it was never a foul would have regarded it as a nailed-on penalty.

                          TOLD YOU

England might be in for an unplanned bank holiday on Monday (July 15), judging by previous comments made by Sir Keir Starmer . The newly appointed prime minister, who has only been in power for a week, already has much to celebrate.
Despite being unable to witness Gareth Southgate guide his team to a second consecutive European Championship final, the Labour leader kept tabs on the situation in Dortmund during a NATO meeting. But now, with the Three Lions triumphing over the Netherlands, Starmer could have a significant decision to make.
There have been suggestions that a bank holiday should ensue if England manages to secure only their second major trophy in history. It comes as Southgate aims to surpass his achievement at Euro 2020 , which took place in 2021 when the Three Lions lost to Italy in a penalty shootout

Would Wales and Scotland also have the day off?

(Until I worked in Scotland I didn't realise that they had bank holidays which were not 'celebrated' in England and vice versa. It seemed to be the case that it was a matter of 'swings and roundabouts' but with my immediate bosses being based in Scotland and my overlords being based in England I made the best of both worlds).

Being an employee of the UK government I wouldn't be complaining about an extra day off, but I think I'd rather it not be an option after the final whistle on Sunday.
