I think all the opening fixtures are available on TV. The rules state they can't put them on at 3pm so they've decided to go for 12:30pm.

For all the promoting and self congratulation Sky will give themselves for showing off the Championship for match going fans the next season could be an utter shit show with increased Friday/Sunday matches and 12:30 Saturday kick offs.

Football is a massive business now and the World is changing to fit in with the streaming for more people to watch it at home on TV.

All EFL fixtures on the opening weekend are live across all three divisions, either on the regular Sky Channels or Sky Sports + (which I think is a better quality version of the red button).

There will be a lot more games live on Sky Sports + with City (and all clubs) going to be live at least 20 times.

That likely means more 12.30 kick offs.

Sunderland cannot be happy about their opening game. 12.30pm in Cardiff and if they think coming down on Friday is an option then Cardiff hotels are rammed on Friday night as Billy Joel is playing the Millennium Stadium.
at least 24 times*, at Championship level.

If you take out the 8 midweek games, 4 bank holiday games, opening and closing game, which are all confirmed to be on Sky already, at least 10 of our Saturday games will be moved away from Saturday 3pm (so roughly 1 in 3).

Positive that the announcements are much earlier for TV selections, should mean can book some decently priced (!) train tickets. Sky are also committed to not just having that terrible one camera footage they had on the red button, I think I read there will be a minimum of 4 cameras per game at Championship level.

Wonder what it means for us international fans. The club can't charge the same Ł140.00 for Cardiff City TV if a lot more of the games are blacked out overseas by Sky. And there's no Sky+ button here, local coverage only shows one game. Will be absolutely gutted if there's no legal way for me to watch City every week.

Jacks away....so early in the season it will be interesting to see what the criteria is for that match. 24/25 ST holder plus 8 aways last season for first dibs, maybe? Or...free ticket and coach for anyone who went to Rotherham last match of the season. After Boro at home.....that was a hard watch (x2).

Or, let’s do the sensible thing and all boycott travelling and watch it in the pub.

It's been a business for years and TV is probably their biggest earner so no surprises that the league will cater for TV rather than match going supporters.

Be interesting to see any impact it has on attendances?

I think the knock on will follow, when people realise how many games are changed this season. People are probably oblivious to it at the minute, but won't be happy when theyve bought a season ticket and chunks of games are moved to early kick offs that they can't attend.

Your latter point is the reason why I didn't fork out on two season tickets.

Personally, Friday night games are OK but early kick offs on a Saturday and Sunday are a non starter. Still good to know someone will be streaming the lower half of the championship fixture somewhere on planet earth so me and my lad won't be missed.

                        It's called progress I think?

It is. If it ends up being played (unlikely) on the Friday evening, it'll be the earliest ever in terms of date.

The 1957 fixture was the opening game of the season. We also played them on the opening day in 1930, losing 3-2.

This may be an omen - we've played Swansea twice on the 3rd league game of the season winning both 1-0. Bulut is a master at the 1 goal win, so you never know.

It will also be our first opening day fixture against Sunderland since 1955. We won that 3-1.

We haven't faced Oxford United on Boxing day since a 4-0 drubbing at the Manor Ground in 1984.

Some pretty rubbish away fixtures in there. Pompey midweek, Millwall midweek, Watford on a sunday, Plymouth in the middle of winter again.
