Re: Alex Robertson What Happened ??
That is a good question, what is our budjet? No one can answer for certain but what if we did recieve a susbstancial pay out from the insurance brokers. Would that answer why of all of sudden we are not as interested in the loan market as we have been in the previous recent seasons and are looking at permanent signings?Originally posted by Hilts View PostNo. If we've a limited budget I'd prioritise elsewhere now.

I'd like to think it's to build a team and we have a long term plan to eventually be a promotion challenging side. Too many loans mean you start again next season unless you go up.Originally posted by NinianKnight View PostThat is a good question, what is our budjet? Re: Alex Robertson What Happened ??
Davies and Collins were injured 10 days ago against Hertha. Etete was injured 2 days earlier against the Sundowners.
They may not have been assessed immediately, but (as Davies has already had his surgery and given the thumbs up on Instagram) I'm sure the club has known about their situation and projected time out for well over a week - and have planned accordingly.
Given the way the Robertson story has been leaked/reported in recent days, I'm confident there is an agreement in place with Man City and the player and (unless someone gazumps it) he will sign in the next few days.
The Etete and Davies injuries may have already pushed a second striker signing to the top of the list.
I'm not convinced a Left Back is a priority. We have other options, and at least one is a square peg in a square hole!

I’ve read a few news snippets that he’s likely being loaned to a lower ranked or newly promoted PL teamOriginally posted by NYCBlue View PostDid anyone happen to watch Man U v Liverpool last night? Liverpool have an 18-year-old Scottish kid called Ben Doak. An attacking player. Very lively. I think he'd make a good loan signing.

Re: Alex Robertson What Happened ??
Don’t get the timing of the question, it was widely reported that we would be signing a midfield player early in the coming week, if we haven’t signed Robertson or another midfielder by Thursday then the question becomes relevant.
Jon’s right, the injuries to Davies and Etete have been known about for at least a week (Isaak’s looked serious at the time) and the club must have known there was a decent chance that they’d be out for some time, yet we’ve had plenty of talk last week about a midfielder and a defender coming in. Erol Bulut has said he’d like to add four more to his squad, so you’d think the intention was always to bring another striker in.

Have u seen much of Luey Giles Bob? Do you think he could do the job at left back?Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostDon’t get the timing of the question, it was widely reported that we would be signing a midfield player early in the coming week, if we haven’t signed Robertson or another midfielder by Thursday then the question becomes relevant.

I just can't see O Dowda being available for the 8 weeks Collins is out.

Re: Alex Robertson What Happened ??
It’s interesting because Bagan seems the obvious replacement to me, but he’s been used entirely as a centreback in pre season (I think Bagar’s future may be as a central defender, but he knows the full back role and has hardly been a disaster when used there in the Championship). Giles has played centre back in youth football as well and, if he grows a bit, he may end up there, but, for now, he’s definitely a full back and I’d say he’s definitely jumped in front of Tom Davies and Beecher in the left back pecking order.Originally posted by Hilts View PostHave u seen much of Luey Giles Bob? Giles looks a dead cert to start against Bristol Rovers in the League Cup and I think much would depend on how he does then, but I reckon he could play a league game or two now if he concentrated on defending and keeping things simple. It needs to be remembered that Conte had a go at left back in one of the pre season matches, Perry Ng could play there with Chambers switching to right back and there’s also Joe Ralls.

Re: Alex Robertson What Happened ??
He's only played three times for Liverpool and twice for Celtic. I don't know how many minutes he got but I can't see him getting much joy in the PL.Originally posted by StraightOuttaCanton View PostI’ve read a few news snippets that he’s likely being loaned to a lower ranked or newly promoted PL team

Yes there are options. I'd love one of our young players claim a spot.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostIt’s interesting because Bagan seems the obvious replacement to me, but he’s been used entirely as a centreback in pre season (I think Bagar’s future may be as a central defender, but he knows the full back role and has hardly been a disaster when used there in the Championship). I thought Conte and Ashford looked too good for Bristol Rovers yesterday. Makes me wonder why Joel Colwill has ended up with a L2 loan. I think all 3 would improve that Bristol Rovers side.

And why we continually have soft tissue muscle injuries, the ones that are supposed to be preventableOriginally posted by Tuerto View PostI'm surprised that nobody has asked questions on why three players have picked up quite serious Injuries in pre season, they're not niggles. That's poor.
