I know we are talking about Cardiff City, but do you really think the club would sign someone on a 4 year contract without an evaluation?

Agree, rather we paid fees for younger players with potential than older players. I think we had a time where we paid fees for NG and Watters, one worked one didn’t.

Rather this than fees on players like Flint, Pack etc.

Mine too. I just hope he’s given a proper run in the side by the manager and time to settle by the fans. He apparently did well during the first half of last season, but that was in a division where Marlon Pack and Ebou Adams were leading lights, so it’s going to be a big step up.

I hope he takes it in his stride. City’s central midfielders have been so limited for so long. It would be great to see someone with genuine potential develop properly in that position during the next few years.

Although they did then choose Marlon Pack as their player of the season.

In fairness, Pack played the whole season whereas Robertson played only half a season.

As I've mentioned above, I just hope there is not too much expectation with this lad this season.

When Tommy Doyle came to us on loan, he'd already played for Man City's first team in the Premier League (albeit just one sub appearance), the FA Cup (1 start and 2 sub appearances), the League Cup (2 starts) and the Champions League (1 sub appearance).

By comparison, Robertson made just two sub appearances for Man City's under-21 side in the Football League Trophy.

Robertson's experience effectively amounts to half a decent season in League One before picking up a serious injury. I'm sure if City had signed him from a Premier League side like Brighton, Villa or West Ham, there wouldn't be too much expected of him at this stage, but because he was on Man City's books I'm sure people will expect more, which is probably unfair.

He looks a very promising signing to me and he might take to the Championship like a duck to water, but I think it's far more likely that he'll need time.

I know its a few years ago, but he can take a decent free kick, watch goals #2 and #4

Does the Australian national team take part in the equivalent of the AFCON?

Could we lose him for a chunk of seasons due to international commitments?

From your post being anything other than more negative spin.
