I think you are stuck in a time zone with regard to those bands , most of whom were good but had their time in the sun

Same with Oasis , what are they going to bring to the party now ?

Wet leg are insipid indie nonsense imo
Yes, I agree with you about being stuck in a time zone with the bands I have quoted you. Hence the reason about 15 years I got into Northern Soul. Have always had a love of Motown, so it was a natural progression. Or in your opinion it might even be a regression lol. Nothing new rock wise has interested me in a long, long time.

I understand where you are coming from re Wet Leg. To me, they are the best of the 'insipid indie nonsense' bands out there though

      Re: Oasis reunion

I liked them back in the 90s saw them a few times I doubt I'll get a ticket this time around due to them being snapped up by mainly scalpers that want to resale for 500 quid.
I guess it's easier to hate something rather than just allow people who have looked forward to this day for years to enjoy.
      Get over yourselves childish knobheads.
I guess it's just the way of the world these days.

I was sat there at the recent Principality concert, and quite frankly I was bored to tears. I kept comparing them to some of the true greats that I have been fortunate enough to have seen at their prime, bands and artists like Bad Company, Thin Lizzy, Hawkwind (in their many guises), Budgie, Rainbow (with Dio), Patti Smith, The Ramones, Hanoi Rocks, The Cramps etc etc. I left before the end to wander down to Caroline Street to get some chips and curry sauce, as you do.

Oh, and before J R Hartley, explodes with impotent rage, I was on the guest of the support act Wet Leg, who I much preferred, so didn't have to pay for my ticket.

Finally, why aren't the Foo Fighters for you these days? Have your musical tastes got heavier?
thinly veiled I was on the guestlist post imo

I saw Oasis in 96 and see Noel and Liam since, although far from my favourite band their contribution to popular culture is massive.

Buzzing about a reunion. It's just nice too isn't it? I know it's probably motivated by money, but seeing two brother come together is good isn't it?

Tickets will sell in seconds. Amazing how many teenagers love oasis. Probably because big real bands dont exist now for the youngsters (below 30 but nobody who uses this board is under 30)

(Lots of replies how bad oasis are incoming.....)
Arctic Monkeys sell out everywhere in the UK. Fontaines DC will probably sell out Finsbury Park next summer, Catfish and the Bottlemen will be doing the Milennium and Spurs' ground and their not even that big, similarly Blossoms sold out Wythenshawe Park last night

Music's diversified through streaming, you don't get big chart battles anymore and streaming means that old stuff is more readily available to listen to. You've still got plenty of bands that are big for their demographic but you've also got older people going to gigs and keeping "legacy" bands going

Oasis aren't for me but they have an enduring appeal with football fans in particular

Anyone seeing them live would have experienced something very rock n roll .

Half a World Away is astonishing

                        Re: Oasis reunion

Love them or hate them, like their music or not, they were a massive part of brit pop and everything that went with it in the mid to late 90s. There's 30 years of new music that's arrived on the scene since, much of it alot better than anything Oasis put out, but you no-one can deny their place music history. Will I try to get tickets? Probably, but I'll sit down this time instead of enjoying the mosh pit that I could manage 30 years ago.

My 11 year old adores Oasis which I initially thought strange but remembered I listened to loads of Beatles and the Stones at that age.

Let's be fair the current music scene is insipid and whatever most feel about the eyebrow brothers the youngest is entertainment with his somewhat simple ways and views.

It's Liam who my kid likes he's non plussed about Noel.

For those who got an opinion on others listening to music they don't do, they're usually the same sort of one eyed whopper who moans about plastic Liverpool/Man United fans. I'd advocate they do half a pill and listen to Age of Consent and chill the phuck out, the miserable old waankers.

For the record 'Definitely Maybe' is a great album.

Not really fussed on the rest of their stuff.

                              Is that directed at me?

As it goes, I don't think anyone doesn't want to read your opinions, it's just you state the same thing on similar themes or topics constantly and sometimes come across as the ramblings of a grumpy old cuunt whose only company is a well worn waanking sock.

For someone who doesn't use alcohol and seemingly does fishing which appears to me to be quite a relaxed hobby, you've got a pent up angst about somethings like a 1980s teenage girl who listened to The Smiths.

                              Love to you butt.

I liked Oasis.....well the original Oasis who played in Tiffany's Newport in the 70's and 80's. They had a superb guitarist called Hywel Maggs. Anyone old enough to remember them ?
