I totally agree. Mrs C is a Londoner. Speaks more Welsh than I do. Considers herself Welsh now after 15 years in Wales. Campaign season ticket holder and wears a Cymru bobble hat. I loathed international football for a while because I couldn't stand the nationalism but I've found a comfort zone and something to love again. Don't really give a toss about flags et al. Patriotism, for me, is a terrifying word and concept. Our DNA is not Welsh. Random births don't define us.

I’m pretty sure English players would prefer to play for England, than Wales….given the choice. ;)

So obviously their views might differ from mine.

Sincere apologies if my spelling mistake upset you.

Let’s just all support England then….or we could be their 2nd XI ? It seems a few wouldn’t mind that, looking at some of the comments on here.

I don't agree with your thoughts on Ashley Williams, but i do believe that there is a wider point over players with a loose connection to a country, gaining international caps. It could be seen as a leveller, plenty of poorer nations, or nations who have seen mass migration due to conflict, famine (In irelands case) could make an argument for it (not that they have to )

I was chatting with a cab driver the other day about cricket and he supports Bangladesh because that's where his parents were born. He was born in Cardiff and could play for England @ cricket. I support Greece (I'm one Q Greek) and Wales. Anthony Hopkins became a US citizen. Nature v nurture. Anyone can choose whatever they want.

I've lost count of the number of times I've raised it as hilarious that Cardiff City, Wrexham, Swansea and Newport all play in the English pyramid yet people get so wound up about them being proud Welsh clubs. Once we start going down the 'pure blood' route it never ends well.

They can only ‘choose’ if they have a ‘choice’….the players I’m talking about never had a chance to play for their country of ‘choice’.

They are actually facts, not thoughts, about Williams. He simply chose to play for Wales, because he didn’t have a cat in hells chance of playing for his own country, and happily denied Welsh players caps for their country. Ben Turner, and a few others (just as ‘qualified as him), politely declined on moral grounds.
AW is also not the best human being in the World, having to cancel his social media accounts tells you all you need to know about the guy…and his ‘off field’ activities.

I'd be more than happy to see all the Welsh clubs playing in the Welsh league.

If Bulut stays at the helm much longer, you may well end up seeing that happening at City. Big Welsh derbies against TNS lol
