It’s our 25% sell on clause that our astute board inserted that’s putting Hamburg off selling:hide:

When was the last time a striker scored for us?

:hehe: They we’re just really grateful to get, what was it, 750k for a 27 year old player we paid £5 million plus for.

That’s a good question, Diedhiou against Southampton I think.

Saying that, I suppose Robinson was the closest thing we had to a centre forward last weekend.

Which ‘big clubs’ are you referring to, oh wise one?

Yet another signing we made a huge profit on.

                      None taken. 🤣

Merthyr isn't fair. Doyle no idea he was prolific in L1 mind.

My guess is you've seen Glatzel about as much as me.

To be fair the mysterious Glatzel strengths are now coming out years later such as his technical ability even though he couldn't trap a bag of cement when I saw him such was his poor touch. 🤣

He will have pace and a powerful shot next.

I think we got 500k for him. A fair price I think.

His touch wasn't great, agreed, but he must have something to score that many goals for Hamburg. I'm not saying he's a fantastic footballer, because he wasn't, but in the right areas, he can finish. We didn't get to see that though.

If he was still here he would easily be our first choice striker.

I always remember thinking "Why doesn't he hit the ball cleanly"?
He seemed to scuff so many attempts. In fact, I think a couple of his goals were a little fortuitous, in that he scuffed the shot, but it still managed to go in.

I don't recall see anything technical about him to be honest.

I suppose it’s all about opinions,. but I don’t recognise the version of Glatzel you and Hilts describe. Anyone who has played centre forward for Cardiff in recent years knew that the number of chances of scoring they get in a game was severely limited because we don’t create many and we get so few team mates forward to support hum, therefore, it would not be surprising to see City strikers get a bit nervous when a chance comes along and this could effect their finishing.

Look at Kanga as an example, how many good chances has he had in.all of the time he has played for us? I can only think of one, at Hull, that he botched because of poor ball control. Returning to Glatzel, if he misses a good chance for Hamburg through his alleged poor technique, he knows that, judging by his goal scoring figures, another one will be along pretty soon, so he can be more philosophical about missing chances he should score from - he’s bound to be more confident in front of goal than he was with us. However, despite his lack of goals for us, the ones he did score revealed him as a better finisher than most of the strikers we’ve had since we’ve been relegated in my opinion - the term “striker’s graveyard” which is beginning to be used about City is a very appropriate one I reckon.t

Here's his goals for City, some really good finishes included:

My recollection is different to yours. I remember wondering why he didn't finish so clinically more often. It seems he does in his homeland.
