Is there any point of it in wales anymore? Clubs have pitiful followings and I’m not even sure which ones even still exist, but at least the national team did ok, now even they are abysmal….bet Gatland is regretting ever coming back he could be sitting very nicely in the sunshine in Oz right now

Re: The lugby…..
This is worse than than the 90's when Welsh rugby was in the darkest of places. Back then our best had switched to Rugby League. We have no excuses these days. We are desperately poor and very dull and predictable.
Gatland has to go but there are so few quality players. I don't know where the next win is coming from.
Only 55 000 at the game. The WRU should be ashamed of the mess the game is in.

Re: The lugby…..
Wales's glory days happened when the Rugby Union pond was much smaller and less professional. An egg following friend of mine was telling me only yesterday that Wales have a lot of young talent coming through. When I told him that probably so do all the other Rugby playing nations, he seemed a bit deflated..Originally posted by Pearcey3 View PostThis is worse than than the 90's when Welsh rugby was in the darkest of places. Re: The lugby…..
Yep a friend of my son said that we had young talent coming through but we just don't have enough senior players to guide them. This will be the end for Gatland. The WRU will have the resources to bring in a decent coach but we are miles behind.Originally posted by A Quiet Monkfish View PostWales's glory days happened when the Rugby Union pond was much smaller and less professional. I think gatland has proved he’s a decent coach before, this just highlights that wales have no decent players, I can barely name one.Originally posted by Pearcey3 View PostYep a friend of my son said that we had young talent coming through but we just don't have enough senior players to guide them. They could be outside the top 10 soon if not already

Re: The lugby…..
Even during our six nations triumphant days we were routinely second best against the SH.
Seems like more nations are now starting to take the game seriously and we are looking like tier 2 also rans.
They wouldn't have because of the money but this team could probably have done with playing Portugal or someone rather than Australia or the springboks.

I dare say the rise in Welsh football won't help the pool of young rugby players, either.Originally posted by Pearcey3 View PostYep a friend of my son said that we had young talent coming through but we just don't have enough senior players to guide them. Re: The lugby…..
There’s some valid reasons which go some way towards explaining Wales’ decline in this thread. However, I still feel it’s amazing how quickly Wales have declined. It was only just over a year ago that Wales trounced Australia in a World Cup game and, although we’ve had some big players retire, I for one wasn’t thinking that we would be going on 11 game losing runs quite so quickly.
I watched about ten minutes of today’s game and when I changed channels, Wales had scored thirteen uninterrupted points to get within six and Australia had just had a player sent to the sin bin - it seems we just fell apart after that. The really worrying thing is that I can’t remember many games in this losing run where we can say we had bad luck or it was nip and tuck all the way- we’ve deserved to lose each time.
