Once or twice a season big event games

We Welsh are good at that

    Internationals , boxing day games

It's the regular big attendances that pay the wages and the likes of Llanelli, ospreys , Cardiff need big crowds all the time

I bet the attendances would plummet even further if they brought in the same alcohol restrictions as football :hehe:

Tonight's win is not good for Welsh rugby

Those kids there tonight will have caught the bug and hopefully they are the future

I doubt Welsh rugby clubs or regions could claim to have the upper hand in terms of crowds from the 90s onwards. Of course, from 2000 onwards we won promotion twice and crowds built gradually. Swansea avoided going bust and even pipped us in the race to the PL. All the while club rugby crowds dwindled. I know quite a few friends who talk all things rugby online but only ever watch games on the TV.
I went to the recent Cardiff v Scarlets game (crowd about 10k I think). The rules are so intricate these days and change every year, that I found it quite hard to follow. Watching on tv, with someone telling you what's actually going on, is actually quite good.

Welsh rugby was a product of local towns competing against each other. What a shame the structure was altered to the detriment of Welsh rugby fans
              100% agree with this.
David Moffett and his plan has basically killed the game in Wales.

Regional rugby would never work with such provincial rivalries.
It is only the Ospreys that could be considered to have had a right go at it.
Cardiff Blues is essentially Cardiff RFC rebranded as are The Scarlets with Llanelli RFC.
The Dragons are still essentially Newport even though they have bent over backwards to try and accommodate Pontypool and Ebbw Vale…it was destined to fail.

One of the biggest travesties to me was the treatment of Pontypridd and Bridgend.

I will always take an interest in Newport RFC, but really couldn’t give a stuff about The Dragons. They basically kicked Newport RFC out of Rodney Parade.

              Also **** the Welsh RFU.
I’m long past caring about the Welsh Rugby Team.
Maybe getting a Daffodil on the shirt instead of the poxy, servile 3 carrots would be a good start.

Welsh club rugby is a complete irrelevance to anyone living in England. There is mild curiosity in, but mostly fun made of, the national team.

As far as I’m concerned, every defeat of the Welsh egg team increases the likelihood of another Gareth Bale being unearthed.

Rugby on the whole is pretty much an irrelevance in huge sections of England

Apart from the west country and a few isolated clubs .....Leicester, Northampton ....
                  rugby is of no importance

The Welsh media will talk about beating England in the rugby but it's of no importance in the industrial population heartlands of Birmingham , Liverpool , Manchester , Leeds , Newcastle etc

The people here .... THE ENGLISH.....are not interested in rugby ...there is no great following for rugby

When Wales beat England at Wembley with THAT Scott Gibbs try ......the emphasis here by BBC Wales , the pundits etc .....most English didn't give a toss

The only " banter " was that dished out to English people living in Wales who unless they were West country folk , was one sided silly parochial nonsense

Beat the likes of United , Liverpool , Leeds , Spurs etc and give the England football team a lesson or a good game and the embarrassing rubbish seen on the likes of scrum 5 ...wheel out some minor Welsh celebrity , clapping seals in Welsh rugby tops etc......would be more in line

But it's not , if Cardiff Blues beat Northampton it barely raises a flicker in England because nobody is really interested in Rugby

It's something the Welsh and particularly the media and ex players making a living over telling stories never seem to understand but there you go

International rugby is a good watch though

Really why they make fun? As much as I’ve stated I’ve no love for Welsh rugby, surely they’ve pulled englands pants down more often than not in the last 20 years? How many slams have England won? Championships? The English seem to be the ones getting the piss taken out of them by the us and the rest of the world no?

I wonder if how clubs do is reflected at national level how well they do? Particularly here where we really only have two football clubs. Wales best time around 2016-2020 ish and both clubs spent time in the PL around then….
