Re: Adolescence - Netflix
well you would wouldn't you! :POriginally posted by bobh View PostI watched it in one go.
Very good, Steven Graham is excellent.
Found the story a bit disjointed, there were big gaps and I thought it should have ended with sentencing
many have missed the point i think. After watching interviews with Stephen i think he didn't want to travel the usual plot lines and do 4 separate episodes. The arrest, The evidence, The evaluation, The Effect.
It wasn't good acting! it was a master class. The kid had only joined a local drama thing and not done anything

Re: Adolescence - Netflix
I enjoyed it but when the last episode ended I went out the kitchen to make a cup of tea came back into the room and I said to the Mrs put the last episode on.
I was a bit disappointed you didn't get the trial and the victims family's side of the story.

Not sure what you mean by flat. It was a family one year after the event , still trying to get on with their lives. Imagine yourself in their position.Life goes on and all that but the consequences of what was done are still there.Originally posted by Des Parrot View PostI also watched it in one go. I thought episode 3 with the lad & the psychologist was exceptionally good, both excellent performances, by comparison I thought the last episode was a little flat. They’ll be awards heading in its direction.
I'm pleased they didn't over do the drama for extra effect, tried to keep it as real as possible...and sometimes real is boring.

Re: Adolescence - Netflix
Most of us who are parents want to do the best we can for our children, It’s a tremendously difficult role to play.
There are no books or guidelines on how to parent, and most of us try to take the good bits from our own parents.
The internet and social media, has made it 100 x harder.

Sometimes people enjoy good TV just because it’s good TV. The most successful films ever are about that one boat that sank 100 years ago and bunch of big blue people on another planet. Not sure how much that’s resonating with the common person :hehe:Originally posted by Rjk View Postit's been a massive hit worldwide apparently, which is great for the UK TV Industry, but kind of depressing that these issues are so widespread for it to resonate in so many places

Re: Adolescence - Netflix
I have seen lots of rave reviews about this but we don’t have Netflix. I haven’t seen it and won’t see it unless it is sold on to another channel in a few years.
It got me to thinking that a massive % of TV reviews in this country seem to be for streaming channels that many people don’t have. A few years ago there were a few flagship programmes (mainly original dramas) surrounded by dross. That has changed in recent times.
There are 28.4 million households in the UK and 17 million have Netflix (7.6 million have Disney). So I am in the minority - though we do have Prime, Apple and Paramount (free with Prime).
The days of everyone sharing the same televisual experience (with no more than four channels) is long gone.

Re: Adolescence - Netflix
Have you always been that way, or did something shift for you? I've never really watched much TV, even when i was a kid. my Mother was a panellist on some Political debate on LWT, and i even ****ed off out to play for that (my mother reminds me of it regularly) Although i did watch more in my twenties and thirties. I really do think that what did it for me was the complexity of TV, around about the time Sky came out, then the streaming channels etc, i just couldn't be bothered with it all, too complicated for me, and i'm being serious, i like simplicity. I read a lot though, random stuff, could be about anything.Originally posted by Rjk View PostI don't watch a lot
