Blur even sang about Boys and Girls ffs :hehe:

And if he wants to talk about misogyny there’s no more misogynistic and male aggression than from the rap culture of that era, which was dominated by the blacks who Britpop apparently held back.

Britpop was the worst things to ever happen to the music industry is one of the worst and most baffling takes I’ve ever read about the genre.
I always thought Elastica and Sleeper were class, and they certainly weren't male led bands.

I wuz there too... I remember something had happened , didn't they have a fall out?
Was " lucky" enough to get two "premium" or some word similar in the ballot. £500 each . They were as far away and as high as you can get from the stage .. the only thing premium was the price .. Few months ago I decided I wasnt that bothered and sold them through ticketmaster for the price I paid. Had a look last week and tickets were £200 odd, not cheap but much cheaper than mine.
Sounds like it was a good gig though.

Sleeper are playing the Tramshed in September. I saw them, think it was last autumn, play an acoustic gig at The Gate in Roath. They were excellent and Im glad they're doing a bigger tour this time around.

You’re never going to convert the haters. Seen a guy ranting on Facebook about the price of a pint in the stadium and 1. He didn’t go to the gig and 2. He is teetotal and has been for 30+ years. ****ing idiot. :hehe:

Just an excellent event. Atmosphere was brilliant. Seen several gigs spoilt by football “lads” using gigs to have a pop at each other but it was nothing like that.

Cardiff and the stadium can be proud of itself hosting such an event.

I know the beers were expensive, but isn't that just how much it costs at these sort of events now?

When they play here, beer will be a lot more than £8 a pint.

Cardiff city centre the pints are north of £7 in some places these days anyway, unless you drink in Spoons and even they put their prices up apparently. By the time I got down there 4pm the pubs were rammed and everyone was out on the street so I didn’t even bother trying to get served. I had a few cans on the hour train journey down and had a few cans from the Tesco express on St Mary street. The atmosphere in the street was great. Got talking to some young lads over from Ireland who would have been too young first time around. It was just a great vibe. I’ve ruined too many events being pissed or off my head so I wanted to remember this one

It was’nt a big mark up considering it was a stadium event. Wembley will be a lot more than £8 I’d imagine.

People just like to find anything possible to criticise. The gig was great so now people are not picking about the price of a pint, or Noel’s ex wife leaving early to beat the traffic.
                    Pathetic.

The social media prattle is part of the deal because it's not just a concert but an Event. And it has to be to match the expense and investment people make - you're not just an attendee but helping to build the aura.

Funnily enough, was just listening to a podcast about the 40th (ugh) anniversary of Live Aid and that was probably the start of this kind of thing.

Anyway, not looking to rain on anyone's parade. Hope everyone had a lovely time.

It's Hywel Maggs mate. He was a good friend of my Dad's before he passed away. (My Dad that is. Hywel is still around.)

As you say, standard fare for a pint these days at least £6/7 and that’s places just out of the centre. The wife’s Gin was about £12 the other day and that was in the three arches…..shocked it was only £8 inside for such an event. Definitely one for the history books last weekend and they seem sharper than they ever were when they used to get on it…..

The Arches and the Birch are far too expensive but we sometimes do go in Birch as one for the road when coming home from town, on Fridays err indoors meets me in town around 16.00 and we head back around 22.15/22.30 on the bus, pint of shipyard in spoons @ £3.00 is good value and both with bus passes, it's a reasonably inexpensive night out
