Re: Luton
I think it's an honest appraisal. We look so much better than the opposition, but every game is a struggle. I think the system needs to be tweaked a little to capitalize on our possession. No shots on goal for long, long periods does not bode well. What happens when we go behind by more than one goal?Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostThat's a fairly pessimistic view.
We are scoring more than we are conceding, that's why we are top of the league, four points clear with a game in hand on second place.
If anything, now that we are out of the cup and have fewer International distractions, we are looking more consistent and should pull away.
This is still a work in progress; these players are growing in confidence and, if anything, are getting better as the season progresses.

Re: Luton
Teams are trying to stop us, but we still keep finding a way, even with R Colwill out, Tanner just getting back, and Kellyman just getting match fit and into the groove.Originally posted by NYCBlue View PostI think it's an honest appraisal. We will be fine, we've an easy run coming up.

Re: Luton
Can I just have anxiety about the rest of this season please. It’s a torture for me every time we concede the first goal.
I’m not saying I m not enjoying the style and fresh attitude that BBM has brought in but I’m on the edge of my seat all the time and my finger nails are down to my first knuckle

Re: Luton
Could BBM improve things? I’d say probablyOriginally posted by NYCBlue View PostNo. I think a lot of us just want our possession to more fruitful. Our patient play is allowing teams to organise and defend. I'd like to see some blitzkrieg. Who wouldn't?
However if I’m honest, following the City and turning up was more to do with habit and meeting family and friends for the last few years
This season has been a revelation in comparison and all our talk is about how we play and an expectation of being entertained
BBM is still relevantly inexperienced in FL management terms and I guess he will tweak things along the way, but I hope he doesn’t change his mindset as to how the game should be played, as it’s light years ahead of the shear mind numbing boring crap that we have put up with for years
I read somewhere that someone had said they hadn’t enjoyed the football so much since the Dave Jones era, and the same applies to me
Young squad, mainly our own academy players breaking through and being encouraged to play football, of course they’re going to make mistakes and have the odd bad game but that’s football
Hopefully we get a result tomorrow and then with a few additions we can carry on in the same way for the second half of the season

Re: Luton
Given our points tally I think it's fair to say more "blitzkrieg" would have resulted in a worse standing. I don't think many would be happy with that.Originally posted by NYCBlue View PostNo. I think a lot of us just want our possession to more fruitful. I think we have been very open in many matches whilst in others being very dominant if that isn't always reflected in the winning margin.
Of course we would all want to win by 3+ goals most matches but with this squad that wouldn't really be the end result.

Re: Luton
Barry Murphy is very inexperienced, but he seems to know what's needed to get out of this division. If that means that we can forfeit a few elements of our play because what we do well is enough at the moment then so be it, nothing wrong with that in my opinion.Originally posted by olderblue View PostCould BBM improve things? I think that his style of play is more suited to a higher level, and hopefully he has the intelligence (which I think he will) to adapt if and when we reach the championship. I'm quite certain though that there won't be big changes, he seems to like games to be open and likes to exploit space more than any other manager we have had, ever.....
There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, but I do think that fans need to trust in him and his methods, and for the most part they do. We will piss out of this division, no doubt about it, and I have felt that way since the beginning of September.

Re: Luton
We shouldn't be at this level, at least in non-footballing terms. For me it's imperative that we return straight back to the Championship at the 1st attempt or risk becoming another Bolton or Huddersfield. Whilst Luton look like finally waking up after a season and a half, the likes of Bradford and Lincoln could easily end up above us after 46 games. There's no doubt we are murdering most sides when it comes to midfield battles, but clubs know what to expect and will set up accordingly. BBM/the club have to strengthen - this is too good an opportunity to mess up.Originally posted by Tuerto View PostI don't think it's that simple though. Rightly or wrongly there's going to be expectations, due to the fact that for 20 years or so we were a very competitive championship outfit (For the best part) two cup finals a league championship and two hits at the premier league. I haven't really seen much criticism although I don't engage with Twitter, Facebook etc. we have a high proportion of supporters who probably believe that we should not be at this level, so expectations are high, and that's how it should be in my opinion.

Re: Luton
Respect your opinion and there's some truth to it. I just think that we have that bit more quality when it matters, the football and philosophy seems progressive and to balance it up, the quality of opposition is generally poor at this level, a d I think BBM knows this. I'm certain we will go up as champions. If not, then feel free to bite me on the arse with this post👍Originally posted by A Quiet Monkfish View PostWe shouldn't be at this level, at least in non-footballing terms. I agree, although lots can change or go wrong in a season, logic tells me we will piss it and are getting stronger the longer the season goes onOriginally posted by Tuerto View PostRespect your opinion and there's some truth to it. Re: Luton
I still think Lincoln are the ones we need to stay ahead of, shame we lost to them the other week with a game in hand we’d have a nice gap. In saying that, they have some tough games coming up, Luton, Bradford, Wigan, Hudds, Bolton and Plymouth…..hopefully they will drop some points…
