The auditor might not be directly employed by the club, but he or she will be paid by the club and is therefore working for the club.

And it would have been club staff wh appointed the incompetent auditors or gave them the wrong instructions, so it is to do with club staff.
Unless you saying the FA appoint the auditors.

If the version being put out by the club, Glen Williams and the Trust is correct, and I see no reason to think that it isn’t, then the only questions I have are why weren’t they done earlier? Couldn’t the problem have been foreseen or wasn’t it considered worth making alternative arrangements?

They've known this was an issue before today. Therefore if its out of their hands then why not update fans , the FAB , Trust before today? No they've waited until they've had to make a statement.

Its at a minimum poor communication again.

Good question. I can only speculate but when the club loose control of the situation, i.e. it has gone to the auditor, then they are in their hands. It is hard to foresee the workings or failures of a third party, I have experienced that myself and it is very frustrating.

As said the test is in 7 days time and if the embargo is lifted and we make a couple of needed signings

I can understand why as fans we would think that way. But until there is an issue (a failure to submit the accounts) then there is nothing to update. Once the problem has arisen then you are completely right the club has a duty to explain

Yes, maybe - things like this do seem to often happen to this ownership and support staff though don’t they.

Wow…sorry **** knows why I posted that here.
My Mate texted me taking the piss that Orient scored and I was about to type on here that we all know that transfers are only announced on transfer deadline day anyway.

Whether the auditor has to sign off the accounts or not, the ultimate responsibility lies with the directors. Directors can delegate tasks, but not responsibility.

No matter whether it’s the EFL deadline of the 31st December or the Companies House deadline of 28th February, these are the very latest filing deadlines. They can be filed well in advance of the filing deadline to avoid last minute problems. The directors have had 7 months since the end of last season to have the accounts audited. It is down to the directors not to leave it until the last minute, when some external problem messes up the filing process. It’s just typical of the lack of professionalism we have suffered off the field for years. Amateurs!!!

Auditors work to their own deadlines and timescales , when they are satisfied they sign it off. Ours signed it off on the morning of our AGM.

An absolute non story, pounced on by the usual suspects who love to put the boot into the board at any given opportunity.
There will be no transfer embargo and it will be business as usual. You’ll all have to try a bit harder to piss on the clubs chips.
