  • Hope, confidence, arrogance?

I very much hope that we get promoted and I’m cautiously optimistic that we will but I would not want to be seen as arrogantly saying we will.
If other fans were saying that of their club they would undoubtedly get heat on this board.
There are still a lot of points to play for.

The most important thing is for the players not to be arrogant, which thankfully they're not. As for fans, generally we are quietly confident at the moment but unwilling to tempt fate by saying categorically we will be crowned champions at the end of the season. If it happens great but crowing with 20 games to go is getting ahead of ourselves and understandably deemed as arrogant by fans of other clubs.

I think our fans are the most cautious about champions/ promotion, pessimistic even.
It is pundits and other fans who keep saying we are certainties.

I think many fans are logical and not overly superstitious; they will look at the form, the team, the style of play, and the dominance and say what they see: we are the best team in the league and should win it.

I agree, I think there's a lot of scar tissue when it comes to City over the years and a few poor results will bring up a lot of it even when you have to expect the odd bump in the road.

There are a couple of posts here about championship next year which is getting ahead a little and some on socials I'm sure but most city fans I've met over the years are among the most pessimistic when talking about how well the club will do.

Are people actually quoting that thread the other day about going up? :hehe: did they take winning the fa cup and getting promoted to the sunshine league in 2027 seriously too? Ffs…as they say.

Exactly, there's about 2 people under the age of 50 on here. All of us would have seen the shit times. I really don't know what people are worried about, maybe it's an age thing 😂 we are by far the best team in this league in nearly all departments, we have more quality at this level in the attacking third than everyone else. The biggest factor (by far) in this division is finishing, and we are way ahead of the others. How that will translate when we go up is a different matter, because the standard of finishing is so poor at league 1 level that it isn't something of a comparison to be that overly enthusiastic about. All we can do is keep winning games, and all of this without (arguably) or best player in Colwill R. There isn't a team in this division who could say that if they had a hugely important player out for so long. The trepidation isn't warranted in my opinion.

My view is that 6 points is not “way ahead”

Absolutely correct Phil... 6 points could easily evaporate away in a couple of weeks - we need to stay focused

This time next week I think things will be a lot clearer….if we manage to win our next two home games we will be on 61 points.
At the sametime, Bradford are away to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield which won’t be easy, then Lincoln away.
If we are then 16 points in front of Bradford and Stockport, we will do well to implode and not make the automatic places and when it comes to ccfc I’m one of the most pessimistic fans about….

We are going up no need to stress. We are the best team in this division by a country mile, have a good lead and have 1 of the current top 9 away from home for the rest of the season.

I understand pessimistic football fan mindset but this is as close to a sure thing as we will ever see in our lifetimes supporting Cardiff

Going by results, it's not turned out too badly.
