In years gone by a poor result could screw up my Saturday or Tuesday. I used to make sure that i could fo;;ow the game wherever i was, going out of my way to hear the game, changing plans etc, pissing people off along the way. None of that anymore. It's been coming for a long time with me though, and not just City, football in general doesn't do it for me anymore. I've found other interests that are better for me and more productive.
Have you been down and watched them this season?
I think you’d be impressed with BBM and the way he has the team playing football
There’s also the social interaction that you have with mates and people who you only catch up with whilst down there

        Re: Hope, confidence, arrogance?

I can emphasise a lot with what TLG, Tuerto and others are saying.

A hell of a lot changed for me in 2012, especially after scarfgate. It fundamentally changed my emotional relationship with the club, which tbh I had probably been naive about all along anyway. I have forgiven Tan. It's pointless being angry about it and he hasnt been all bad, but he has changed my emotional investment with the club. I think like TLG suggests, that can provide a more sober look at the club.

I don't think it's arrogant to say we are the best team in the league. It's kinda factually correct, but things could still go wrong and it's too early to talk about it. It's not arrogance we need to worry about, it's over confidence leading to taking things for granted and losing a couple of games means we are right back in the scrap.

I cared little when we went up in 2013. I went to the parade down Lloyd George Avenue and the Bay but only to make sure the players saw me wave a big blue flag along the route! Only watched the first prem season games from the pub but got a lot from being quite involved with Bluebirds Unite and the marches etc. Once we were back in blue I got interested in the game again, but it isn't the same. It is of course less important, but I imagine it's a bit like taking a partner back having been cheated on. It's never quite the same.

That said I loved going up under Warnock and being on the pitch against Reading. I loved the Premier League season too and had some lovely games with my then young daughter.

Since then it's been pretty meh. Pretty dull, and with COVID and everything football just seemed less relevent, more corporate, less real than ever. Some away games are fun but I can honestly count on one hand how many home games I genuinely enjoyed between say 2022 and 2025.

This year, I've enjoyed the most since the Premier league season. The club feels the most united in years and, quite unbelievably, the football is actually good.

I'll never care as much as I did around the 2000-2012 period, but aside from that, Up the City!

I knew you’d seen plenty of games, as I’ve said before you always have a very informative view on the game, players and style etc
There are always plenty of other claims on our time, but nothing beats going down to the ground, meeting up with family and friends beforehand, having a discussion about the team, tactics the opposition in my view

Up until the rebrand fiasco it was all about the results, since then it’s about the importance of maintaining friendships and enjoying the day, before during and after

Hopefully you’ll get back into that why not pick a game and make an effort to get down there at least once this season with some mates, it just might reignite the bug to go again

As we’ve always said Ian, it’s 90 minutes in the middle of a good day out. It’s not just what happens on the pitch for us.

Reading this post, I’d have thought you should be thanking him for breaking the all consuming bond you had with the club, allowing you to now view things more sensibly from a distance.
Notice Baldy chose to post on the Luton thread, but not answer this question. Kinda sums him up.

He's probably put you on ignore like everyone else that dares to disagree with him.
