    Re: Capitol centre

I remember someone posting years ago on a similar thread that Cardiff has never been big enough so sustain both ends of town at the same time, one end is always a bit down in the dumps.

A lot more people live in the centre now than 25/30 years ago, many more to come with all the flats getting built right now, plus all the student blocks. It should be do able but the council are doing most of the damage as rents are so high, never seen so many empty units.

Online shopping didn’t really exist 25/30 years ago. The world’s a very different place now.

True, I guess that’s why it’s mainly supermarkets, bars and coffee shops that are busy down that end. They messed up Churchill way mind, a few bars and restaurants there were always quite busy…

Benetton was definitely in capitol centre a few years ago. I never went in there but was there, maybe it moved around a bit?

The council aren't responsible for the rents.

Didn't know that Jim, i'll take your word on it. I just remember it being at the top end of Queen St, by the Nye Bevan statue. Couple of kids from Llanedeyrn robbed it once, everyone had a fluorescent Puffer jacket up the Pensylvania pub.

Of course you were wee little bald man,

You walk through that end of town all the time but never knew Flannels existed. It’s only been there over 20 years.

Stick to boycotting until Tan leaves.

You’ve fast become one of the saddest acts on this message board, and that’s going some. An anonymous coward who, not for the first time, has resorted to throwing personal insults around because you’ve embarrassed yourself again.

I never walk up Churchill Way. It’s not on the way to work. I walk up and down Queen Street an average of four times a week. And I walk into the Capitol Centre occasionally.

Flannels is apparently not a men’s clothes shop, and it’s definitely not the shop NYCBlue was referring to. That was Austin Reed. Which, as I suggested, has long gone.

You’ve tried to make me look daft but you’ve only succeeded in making a right twat of yourself again, which has become par for the course.

                      Better luck next time.

the council actually own quite a bit of the city centre, including several of the large stores I believe, and get quite a bit of rental income from it, which offsets our council tax

Ooooo, sweary words. Angry little elf.

Nice try but you had no idea he was talking about Austin Reed so you were not “right” at all.

Uber confident in your smug know-it-all way that there was no “posh shops” that end of town until told otherwise and told Flannels was in Churchill Way. Never walk up Churchill Way but you were going to seek out next Thursday because you just can’t stand being wrong.

Seek out Mothecare instead Vernon Troye face. The clothes are too big and expensive for you in Flannels.

Haha, yeah I used to stare at it when I was getting my then regular meal deal from the little Boots next to it (still the best meal deals btw). Never saw anyone in there.

                                Landsec own St David's
