Blimey.

It's weird, I thought he might be one who left after relegation last season and wouldn't have been bothered if he had. Now it's disappointing that he is leaving after an excellent season.

Does this give weight to the alleged interest in Savage?

I'm not that surprised. I said in a thread a few months back that i still wasn't that sure about him at championship level and wasn't that convinced that he'd be offered a new deal.

I’m not disappointed I’m afraid. I saw nothing in him at Championship level to suggest he can compete in a team looking to push towards the top. His loan spell at Blackpool seemed to create the idea that he was one hell of a player. His performances when he came back and his limited time out on loan suggest otherwise to me. I thank him for what he has done for us this past season but we need much better to kick on.

Ridiculous decision if true.

How many clubs choose to release their Player of the season as voted for by both fans and his team mates?

Having seen Wintle chasing back to snuff out late attacks in games that were already won, there was, surely, nothing wrong with his attitude this season? Best wishes to him in the future and thanks to him for a great season in which he looked like a player who would have coped in the Championship with no problems.

Wintle didn’t feature at all in any of the three games we conceded five in or at Blackpool when we were wide open defensively.
