Let’s be honest, we were wide open defensively on a regular basis with or without Wintle.

          Official.

The official website of Cardiff City.

Cardiff City can confirm Ryan Wintle will depart the Club at the end of his current agreement this summer.

Wints joined the Bluebirds during June 2021. He went on to make 163 appearances for City, scoring six times.

He leaves Cardiff City Stadium with our very best wishes for the future.

I'm disappointing as felt he could do a decent job for us in the championship. He's certainly better than some still at the club in that position.

Maybe people should be encouraged by this decision. Barry Murphy obviously believes he can get a better replacement in, maybe younger, more mobile, quicker etc. You've all had faith in him up to now.

Third best defence in the league, I think Wintle made a big difference for us defensively.

My concern is that BBM played no part in the decision.

Wintle has had a really good season, but we've all seen him before at championship level. No big deal him going and it frees up a couple of quid.

                      Its a fair point.

Though I expect the BBM had no choice , tiny budget will be used in places.

Lets see who we get in.

Without knowing anything whatsoever, ithink he did, and if he did i can see why

How many clubs choose to release their Player of the season as voted for by both fans and his team mates?

Having seen Wintle chasing back to snuff out late attacks in games that were already won, there was, surely, nothing wrong with his attitude this season? Best wishes to him in the future and thanks to him for a great season in which he looked like a player who would have coped in the Championship with no problems.
Purely a BBM decision Bob and he got the big calls right last season with contracts, letting Ralls go felt pretty ballsy when we had no obvious leaders in the squad (as thought Chambers would go initially).

Clearly feels he can upgrade, bold call but he's paid to make the tough decisions.

It would be idiotic of the club if BBM played no part in the decision

                              I don't think so.

Ng Trott signed up. Im sure Tan would back BBM in giving Wintle a deal.

I think BBM has identified a replacement.
