We wouldn't have signed Trott if we had a tiny budget.

IMaybe, although i think that if BBM would have wanted Wintle to stay, he would have stayed.

The only thing i'd disagree with is that it's a bold call, i don't think it is.

The manager is the only person he's not thanked, right? Obviously it's pointless speculation and I'm reading a lot into it but I don't think "coaching staff" covers the manager.

Anyway: a very good player this season, I'm sorry he's gone.

Most of the division was garbage. The finishing was often woeful. And we had a goalkeeper who made some incredible saves.

When BBM sidelined Alnwick, plenty of fans were surprised. Many thought he’d be fine and Trott was a strange signing. He turned out to be much better than Alnwick, who was ordinary at best.

City signed Wintle because he’d been doing well in League One. He did well in League One again this season. In between, he was ordinary in the Championship at best.

Wintle’s 29 next month. The chances of him improving at the next level are slim at this stage of his career. I reckon he’d be a back-up option at best for any club that wants to progress in the Championship.

It’s a brave move by BBM under the current circumstances but an encouraging one. It amazes me that so many City fans apparently can’t appreciate just how poor League One was this season. The Championship will be a whole lot tougher and City will need to be a good bit better.

Still think it’s ridiculous because you shouldn’t go releasing the man his team mates rated the best player in a promotion winning side. I can only assume we’ve got his replacement all but signed already. Maybe I’ll feel differently when we learn who’s coming in, but it seems a risk we don’t need to be taking at the moment.

Charlie Savage seems to be the name in the press. Ive hardly seen anything of him.

Why do you think people struggle to appreciate that?! I'm sure we've all been amazed by how shit some of the teams are. And the finishing. It's been a constant point of discussion.

Joel Colwill was getting picked for Wales in front of him and he was struggling to get into the Reading side at the end of the season - they’re also in the process of selling Wing to Luton I believe.

Because I read this and the other message board on a regular basis and talk to plenty of City fans away from social media.

That’s a shame, I was a fan of Wintle. Always thought he was one of the best crossers in the team. He showed an amazing work rate last season. We have to trust in BBM though as he’s made a lot of great calls so far. Good luck Ryan, hope you find a good opportunity elsewhere.

All the more reason not to go releasing the Players’ Player of the season then, surely?

Manager has been ruthless, thatÂ’s a sign we are not going up just to make up the numbers.

Seems harsh on the face of it after winning player of the year but no time for sentiment in football. As others have said he hasnÂ’t exactly been a star performer in the Champjonship for us.

I do feel we will need some experience in the middle of the park to replace him.
