Where do you go after those 2 performances! It really is the summer version of the city. And with the misery of the Welsh footy team and recent results it’s a right miserable full house. Don’t mention the complete shambles that is Welsh rugby.

Not the adjective I'd have used but having seen City's wins over Ipswich and Southampton this year I guess I was owed a nightmare finish like that.

Glamorgan back in action against Northants in the Championship today. No Ingram.

Kids go free today (adults half price). I'm not sure what Maurice would make of it being called the Glam Fam day but there you go.

Good first 4 sessions so far. If we play well in the afternoon session today we should be in a very good position

Good, consistent days batting by Glamorgan against a very inexperienced attack on a pitch that is still doing a bit. As someone who is always criticising the pitches at Cardiff, I’ve got to say that, despite the disappointing outcome, the Middlesex pitch was a very good one, we’ll need a big lead if this wicket is like the one for the last four day match played here.

Huge credit to van Der gugten. Been really injury hit over the last few years, to the extent I wondered if he'd be any use when he did come back. But he seems to have actually really improved his game. I think his batting is good enough for him to be considered a genuine all rounder and his bowling is better than ever. Just hope he manages to stay fit for a stretch now.

My youngest (who's got no interest in cricket) randomly met up with him once as part of a group in a pub, he was impressed. Said he came across as a really good bloke. A few years ago now but he still remembers him.

I agree with you, I hope Timm can stay fit and enjoys a successful and lengthy end to his career, for himself and for Glamorgan. I'll make out he's a close friend of the family if he does.

Van Der Gugten’s been playing for us for eight years and I’d say he’s a strong contender to be our best signing in that time. His batting has come on a lot in recent seasons, but I’d say he’s a place too high at seven.

By contrast, Gorvin, who was originally selected as an all rounder by Glamorgan is batting at eleven in this game- Northants may have looked at our team for this game and thought our tail starts at seven, but you could say that there aren’t many better number elevens in county cricket than Gorvin.

490 all out, Harris 40, Crane 56 and Gorvin 26 - quite a bit more than I was expecting, but has it become a typical Cardiff wicket and are Northants going to bat for the next five sessions?
