Managed to take it to the 4th day today. But avoiding another defeat by an innings still looks beyond us.
Felt very sorry for Douthwaite, who batted against his natural instincts and looked set to be rewarded with a first hundred for Glamorgan when his patience snapped at 96. I agree that it looks like an innings defeat sometime in the morning session now, but, hopefully, not before Salter gets to a hundred.
Douthwaite and Salter's partnership lasted longer in terms of overs than the rest of the batting that had come before them put together - Rutherford apart, it's been another poor showing by the so called specialist batsmen.
Nice to see David Lloyd back in the runs, he's 60 not out in Glamorgan's 107-0 at lunch after being put in by Gloucestershire - too early to say yet, but this looks a bit like one of those very high scoring draws you get at Cardiff every now and then.
Something to ponder regarding batting tactics. The Glamorgan pair last night spent a good half hour batting for the morning as it were. Barely scored a run. Today they have lost 2 wickets already to fresh bowlers when they could have been tonking last night. It’s pretty brainless isn’t it?

It was an odd day all round yesterday with no wickets falling in the first and third sessions and six in the second one.
Gloucestershire 20-0 in reply to Glamorgan's 309 and looking pretty comfortable in what seem to be more bowler friendly conditions than yesterday.
I was listening to the cricket on 5 Lixe Extra just now and one of the commentators said she was all cricketed out by now, to which the other commentator said that’s because you’ve won a trophy. I think Glamorgan were cricketed out as soon as they took the last Durham wicket in the Final - today they allowed the last two Gloucestershire wickets to put on about 110 and they’re 57-6 in their second innings and looking at another innings defeat.

I thought they started well, but then collapsed. 57-6 after letting them get 110 at the tail is pathetic by any standards.

This may well be the third successive innings defeat. That simply should not be seen as acceptable. Maynard should be hammering them for this.

I caught this as well and thought exactly the same TOBW. After a good start in the championship, that didn’t see us far off qualifying for the top division (mercifully, in this nick), the performances in this final quarter’s worth of games have been truly woeful. They are doing their best to take the shine off the one day cup victory and what was a very decent 4-day campaign till September!
