Two ways to view this really. One is as you describe, the alternative is that the more you pour into Scottish football the more inevitably will trickle down. So Celtic and Rangers may invest more in youth teams, they may pay more for Scottish talent, or they may buy bigger names from abroad, leaving Hearts and Hibs etc able to buy the talent themselves. Also, it does improve Scotlands rankings, making it easier for other teams to get into group stages of the Europa league etc. (Hearts at home to St Gallen tonight btw)

In practice, I don't think it will make much difference. European success or not, it's a depressingly familiar two horse race and will remain so. In that scenario, I think overall having two teams in the top competition is better than not.

Page isn't having him, at all. I think something must have gone on, as he really doesn't like him. He's make comments about his attitude etc.

Appearances since his terrible 1st leg performance against Union St.Gilloise.

                  06/08 Kilmarnock (12th) (H) - bench, subbed on 63'
                  09/08 Union St.Gilloise (H) - bench, subbed on 64'
                  13/08 St. Johnson (10th) (H) - start, 90 mins
                  16/08 PSV (H) - unused sub
                  20/08 Hibernian (8th) (A) - start, subbed off 68'
                  24/08 PSV (A) - unused sub

He has played 211/560 minutes mainly against the bottom of the league teams, and 158 of those minutes came before the two PSV games when they were resting players. He's certainly not the first name on the team sheet, and he didn't feature at all in any of the important Champions League matches against PSV.

He needs some good performances (if selected) in the upcoming games against Celtic, Aberdeen & Hearts if he wants to impress Page. There is also competition from Lawrence who can also play on the left, and is currently the better performing player, not to mention Johnson, Wilson, James, Thomas and Brooks who will also be hoping for places in the final squad.

By this logic, how many minutes has Brooks had then?

Rabbi has also played in more minutes available this season than Colwill too.

He might not be playing every available minute for Rangers - which players do play every available minutes threaw days? - but to suggest he’s slipped “well down the pecking order” is utter nonsense.

I mentioned all the players that can play wide (Bale too), and are in contention for a place in the World Cup squad. Obviously Page won't be taking 8 wide players to Qatar, so do the math.

Home games against Real, Leipzig & Celtic, tidy. Tickets will be at a premium, now where’s my Hull stub

He managed to peck his way out of playing a single minute against PSV, or maybe the latest football tactics are to confuse the opposition by leaving your best players out of the team?

If he was “well down the pecking order” I’m
fairly sure he wouldn’t have played in
                              80% plus recent league minutes.
Imagine being that far down the pecking order you started the last two league games. He better get his agent on the case to get him out of there in January.
