Expected it to be far closer second half. We rarely seem to do anything the easy way.

Fair play for hanging on in the end, felt our set up second half was all wrong though. The exact opposite to most things we did first half. The pressing completely vanished.

Good 3 points, great even at the moment.

I thought Simpson had a great game

And I did. He made a game winning block right at the death and defended well throughout. Not sure if he was at fault for the goals to be honest, but I thought it was his best performance for us.

We hung on but I’ll take 3 points tonight, in any manner!

Let's face it Middlesbrough were exceptionally poor. Every time we attacked we looked like scoring. Their defence was a shambles. That of course was in the first half when our tactics worked a treat. The second half was a different matter. We stopped pressing, Middlesbrough gained confidence and momentum and we resorted to hoofball which never works. It got worse when we made substitutions. In the end it got very nervy but you have to ask why such a comfortable first half did it all fall apart in the second. I guess the players ran out of steam

Although I'm not a Harris fan the energy he showed was exceptional and he left everything on the pitch. Possibly he could forge a decent partnership with Robinson who had a good game. For me the man of the match was Kipre who got his head to everything. We are going to miss him badly when he returns to West Brom in January.
