Germany getting on top as the half went on, but Japan have a lot of pace on the break - their right back needs to realise he has to defend as well mind.

Germany, and their Interior Minister, making a protest

Germany’s players placed hands over their mouths and wore rainbow stripes on their warm-up tops and boots in a powerful statement of defiance against Fifa

There's protests, and then there's putting your hands over your mouth. It's a bit like saying look, I'm wearing odd socks in protest. Getting silly, juvenile and trivial now.

I’d say a Government minister wearing the armband while sat next to Infantino is a very powerful statement. Not so sure about what the players did, but it was accompanied by a strongly worded statement .

I’m not sure where FIFA can go if they have their hand forced on this matter.

Yeah thousands of deaths are really fecking trivial. I'm in Dubai and on the way back from the USA match have seen first hand the slave buses. It is truly mind changing seeing all the bowed heads of the people on their way to "work". Some even have orange jumps suits to wear just to enforce the captivity look

Infantino is a resident of Qatar so will do as little as possible to upset the cash cow

When lining up for the pre-match photo they all put their hand to their mouth to suggest FIFA have stopped them having a voice.

                          Quite powerful I thought.

                              1-1.

Germany should be out of sight though.
