  • Mark Harris

Is there a player in there who is maturing steadily? While the likes of Kieffer Moore and Ian Wright are very much a rarity, do you believe that hard work and a willingness to learn are not enough on their own to improve? Should we write off Mark Harris at 23 years of age? I have a feeling that there is still a decent Championship forward in there somewhere. I'm not suggesting that this is an answer to our current predicament and that "Sparky" will score 10-15 goals by the end of this season, but is he as limited at this level as many seem to suggest?

      Re: Mark Harris

He'll get the odd goal for sure, but I don't personally see him as anything better than a squad player and impact sub.
Even then, he's never going to consistently make an impact...
Consistency is obviously a huge issue for him at this level and I don't see that improving.

I respect the ability he has, and he works hard for the team which of course, is also very admirable, I just feel he's somewhat out of his depth at Championship level and I can't see that suddenly changing.

Harris is out of contract with us next summer. I doubt that many other Championship clubs will be interested in signing him.

If I was manager I would be happy to have him on my bench. Needs to score more though.

Had a good game when he came on this afternoon. Some good work on the right.

Harris is a very decent player at this level...does a lot of work that is not appreciated.

I was very impressed this afternoon with him, he & Etete settled into the game immediately, got right into the pace of the game unlike many subs.

He did, and gave us some energy and options for moving the ball into their penalty area. I still believe there is much more to come from Mark Harris. One swallow doesn't make a summer but let's see how he continues to progress if he is given game time.

He’s not going to progress. He peaked ages ago at L1/2 level. If he wasn’t Welsh and wearing a City shirt, no bugger would even notice he existed.

The question is, where is he going to improve, what evidence is there to say that his game will get better? I have nothing against him, but in terms of playing style then i would say that Harris is the easiest to describe as it's pretty damn basic. That's not an insult by the way, he works really hard and now and again pops up with something decent. He isn't all of a sudden going to become a more intelligent footballer, his game is hard running and work rate. He's an ok footballer.

                              Can't disagree.
Doesn't matter what he's done today, he's not exactly "progressive" or consistent.
Yes, he works hard and that in itself is to be respected and appreciated, but he's not a player that will give us anything more than odd moments going forward.
