Elon Musk is one of the major drivers for globalisation - if not the single most important one.

Social media information and disinformation may be more important than the exchange of goods/services in the maintenance of a global society, culture, economy and set of dominant ideas.

Trump and Musk are not the Rebel Alliance - they are the Empire!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Opponents of President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk plan to rally across the U.S. on Saturday to protest the administration’s actions on government downsizing, the economy, human rights and other issues.

More than 1,200 “Hands Off!” demonstrations have been planned by more than 150 groups, including civil rights organizations, labor unions, LBGTQ+ advocates, veterans and fair-elections activists. The protests are planned for the National Mall in Washington, D.C., state capitols and other locations in all 50 states.
Are you going? Or maybe you can organise a one-man march in Sheffield

What do the more economically leftwing chaps on here make of this in the BBC article?

It's only a part of the story of course but genuinely interested.

"However, Nissan is considering shifting some of its production to the US, according to reports. It has also announced it's reversing
plans to scale back its operations in Tennessee"

"The United Auto Workers union - which represents those working in car manufacturing - has applauded the introduction of tariffs, saying the move "signals a return to policies that prioritise the workers who build this country, rather than the greed of ruthless corporations"

Donald Trump imposed a 25% tariff on foreign-made cars as part of his economic plan to "supercharge" the US economy.

This is one analysis piece from a US socialist organisation - the Socialist Workers Party (US).

It does make passing reference to the basis of Hitler's rise to power, and also to Leon Trotsky as a reference, so serious pearl clutching will be in order!

The economic war is also directed against the working class at home, despite Trump’s assertions—backed by the United Auto Workers union and other sections of the trade union bureaucracy—that it benefits the American worker.

One of the big lies of the Trump regime is that tariffs are paid by foreign countries. In reality, they are a massive indirect tax on consumers, workers and their families, in the form of higher prices on a range of goods from groceries to consumer durables.

Any relocation of production to the US will not result in an increase in well-paying jobs. New factories will be highly automated, employing as few workers as possible to cut costs. Through the pressure of competition, this will only lead to further job cuts and intensified exploitation in existing plants.

Interesting. What a turnaround in a couple of decades!

I can't see any reference to Hitler or Trotsky unfortunately, which is a shame

Apologies, I missed out the link to the full article:

The tariff measures have been launched under the banner “Made in America,” but there is not a single commodity, in the US or anywhere else, which is not the outcome of a global production process.

There was a 300 strong march for Palestine in Sheffield today - one of the regular local events. The 'hands off' message was there.

There were a lot of Americans in London today on the Hands Off demonstration in Trafalgar Square - and in Frankfurt, Paris and other European cities.

No idea how many took part in the 1200+ US demonstrations - but hopefully this is the beginning of something that grows.

Over 1,400 protests against President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are expected across all 50 states on Saturday, organized by a pro-democracy movement in response to what organizers call a “hostile takeover” and attack on American rights and freedoms.

The crowd chanted 'Hands off Canada', 'Hands off Greenland' and 'Hands off Ukraine' while listening to speeches criticising the 47th President
