PS - I watched Threads again last year and was impressed all over again by how good it was, and remembering how it tied in with the back end of the cold war, CND marches, and the 'Protect And Survive' booklets. The Sheffield setting was a factor too. Back in the 70s/80s it was government ministers and Town Hall executives who were going to be hiding in the bunkers. true, that's what we were doing those weeks - whilst pointing at the houses where those unfeeling, inconsiderate, unappreciative folk lived, refusing to join in the collective celebration. We were like 8yr olds, told to clap along to the funny man at the party. We did it, though perhaps our excuse was it happened the same point in time as mass hysteria took over..
