Do you reckon customers ever complain about poor service, poor quality products, etc?

If so, are they right to do so? Or should they just forget it?

I don’t think that works if it’s relating to staff appointments and service delivery for a football club as so many factors are based on variables outside of the board’s control ( injuries, weather , fitness , refereeing decisions, suspensions, loss of form etc etc)

    It’s not Tesco’s.

    We are customers.

But every solvent company, apart from the semi-state or state-run single entities finds telling you to lump it or leave it does not offer long-term returns.

    No it is not Tesco.

I don't care about Tesco. I do not support Tesco. I feel no sense of pride or frustration if Tesco produces bigger dividends for its shareholders than Sainsbury. I do not read books about the greatest check out staff in Tesco in the golden years of the 1970s. I will not travel 200 miles each way to buy a pint of milk and a paper at Tesco.

I do care about Cardiff City Football Club. It maybe irrational, but there it is!

The Board do not have to produce a plan. They do not have to keep the supporters (their customers) informed and involved. They do not have to be competent. But it helps if they have a plan, communicate well and show that they are on top of their jobs or roles. It will be better for their reputation and the club's financial position. It will generate more goodwill, enthusiasm and new supporters (customers). It is a win-win.

Supporters are not the same as customers. At times the club appears to recognise that (even if just with cliched soundbites) but too often it clearly doesn't. If you and Matt are happy with that, it is your choice. I hope you are in the minority - but maybe you aren't.

Who put you in charge? You don’t want the drama on here but Mike started the thread?

What are you saying? The mods can start a thread but you don’t want replies that don’t align with your own personal opinion?

That’s the sort of dictatorship Tan would be proud of.

If the club were top of the league say 30 points clear , nobody would have said a word regarding the issues raised. Perhaps, more pertinently , if there were any questions to raise I’m guessing they would have followed the protocol as outlined by life long fan Steve Borley.

I think this is a very astute and incisive observation, and I agree entirely. After all, if the situation was entirely different, people would react entirely differently.

    Something to think about.

I agree with you about 'us' only being customers but let's be honest here Cardiff City 'the product' has been crap for a few years and people are complaining.

Wonder if we customers could seek advice from consumer rights for fraudulent misrepresentation?

I tell you what, once one of this Board’s independent, critical thinkers have pointed out the truth to us, you realise how stupid you were not to see it yourself don’t you.

The customer/supporter debate is a really interesting one.

Surprised it's never been mentioned on here before really.

It was staring us in the face all along. There’s no point in anyone complaining when things are crap because they wouldn’t be complaining if things were great. So that’s the end of that.

Seems you have to buy the company you’re not happy with before you can start complaining about it if I read one of Matt’s earlier comments right.

As soon as I posted this morning I knew you and a few others would post the exact same things you have , very very predictable and indicative of the dynamics of a few who just cannot or will not accept other peoples opinions.

The terminology used such as “critical thinking “ “conspiracy” simply has nothing to do with this post so can you just stick to the original thread and behave.

If you have a problem with the club DM Steve Borley on X

No wonder supporters are not joining the trust with people like you as members is there

Frustrations with early-season performances and our League position at this stage of the season are acknowledged and empathised with; however, the Club is disappointed that the referenced letter was made public suddenly by the FAB on Sunday evening, without due dialogue and communication processes being assumed in line with the FAB’s terms of reference.

Prior to this letter’s publication, no discussion from supporter-elected members of the FAB was had with the Nominated Board Level Representative (NBLR) and Co. Chair, Steve Borley. For optimal function of the FAB as it was agreed and intended, it is essential that this formalised dialogue consistently, and without exception, takes place in future.

Cardiff City’s Fan Advisory Board (FAB) is an independent body for in-depth discussion with the Club’s hierarchy including Executive Club Staff and the Club’s Board of Directors. In February 2024, five directly elected fans were elected to the FAB. Five statutory supporter representatives sit on the FAB, including two members of Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust (CCST); two members of Cardiff City Supporters’ Club (CCSC); and one member of Cardiff City Disabled Supporters’ Association (CCDSA).

Meetings are co-chaired by Club Director Steve Borley, Cardiff City’s NBLR, and Michael Weedon, the elected supporter representative.

Scheduled meetings happened in February, May and August this year, with the fourth and final meeting of 2024 scheduled for next Monday. Cardiff City FC’s Supporters Liaison Officer (SLO) serves as Secretary of the FAB with meetings published via the Club website and available to refer to, here.

In addition, a fan parliament, attended by Mehmet Dalman, Ken Choo, Steve Borley and Omer Riza and ten Heads of Departments took place on November 1st.

Ahead of several other clubs and without current obligation, Cardiff City Football Club took the decision to form its own independent fan advisory board earlier this year to give supporters a stronger voice that was heard mandatorily. It is therefore concerning that an incendiary open letter was published, contrary to the procedures and process that the FAB agreed upon.
What a piss-poor response from the club, which isn't a surprise. Just attacking the fact that the FAB agreed with the sentiment and completely ignore the content of what is being said.

It also sounds like the Club want to use the FAB to silence any disenting voices from the fanbase.

the FAB idea was great in theory, but why should a few people who are only fans feel they have a right to know whats happening and demand answers, this isnt non-league football this is a multi million £ business ( thats being run like a car crash I agree ), for me, we have a fan on the board, his name, Steve Borely ( and thats good enough for me )

of course the answer is, if you are not happy walk away ( Silently is better or even a slightly mumble if you must, as we dont want the drama on here, the big grand boycott speech, its embarrassing ) as maybe the new modern elite football game isnt for you, if you walk away, have a look at some of your local non-league teams, they will be happy with your £15 a match ticket and the £10 you spend at the bar, they would be over the moon with that, in fact, you could even volunteer with that club, give something back, even have a say on how its run

some actually just want to turn up and support the team, watch a bit of football ( which under Riza has improved, I know the score of the last 2 games ) Leave the running of the club to them that run the club
    Sums up my thoughts exactly.

Actually. I don't think Riza will last more than a few months.

I hope we get a striker or 2 on loan.

But I don't want the complete rebuild to start as I don't think Riza will be manager long.

I thought you were never watching City again with Tan in charge , yet you’re still hanging around, despite all the hype and attention seeking
