Wasn't it just. This was the table on the morning of the game. 4 points adrift of automatic with a game in hand, 8 points ahead of Preston with GD that was +18 better than them. I don't know what the odds would have been on Preston making the playoffs at our expense, but I reckon you'd be close to matching Elon Musk's personal wealth with a 1p stake.

As it was, Birmingham finished off with 83 points. 10 points from our last 4 games that season would have been one hell of an effort. I think the Ipswich game was just as defining - 1 point needed for the playoffs. We were well beaten in a dismal, flat performance so typical of us under Jones when it was really needed and I doubt many felt we'd get anything at Sheffield Wednesday on the last day.
