What was Warnock to say? I am sorry FC Nantes but I cannot deal with Willie McKay, your appointed representative, because we believe he is not qualified even though EUFA and FIFA and the EFL are happy for the negotiations to carry on and will eventually confirm, as it turned out , that the transfer was completed validly.
The employment of his two sons is a red herring. One of them turned out to be a decent player.
The settlement which the Club reached with its insurers was a result of the insurers’ negligence. This action was taken after the various governing bodies declared that Sala was a Cardiff City player. If it transpires that FC Nantes did indeed employ an unqualified agent, along apparently with two others, to complete the transfer could it not be construed as null and void and perhaps illegal?. In that case the punitive sanctions imposed on the club by the various governing bodies having jumped the gun as it were could also be declared illegal. In this case there could have been consequential losses suffered by the club.
Let’s say the tragic Sala transfer had been played out at let’s say Man City with the money involved say £100m. do you not think that FIFA would be shaking in its boots at the moment?
As regards Warnock's and the club's relationship with Willie McKay back in 2019, are you really this naive or are you pretending?
Also, which one of McKay's sons, who are currently 28 years of age, turned out to be a decent player? Is it Paul, who is currently playing for the Jersey Bulls in the Isthmian League South East Division, or Jack, who is currently playing for Doncaster City in the Northern Counties East League?
Because Toshack actually played for us and his value was proven. When he left us us it was a big loss. He'd scored 8 goals in 16 appearances for City in the '70-'71 season before he went to Liverpool. There's no way of knowing if Sala would have a similar impact in 2019.
The club were not happy with the arrangements at the time because to use an Amazon analogy and putting aside sensitivity for a moment the goods purchased were not delivered. Almost immediately the various governing bodies sided with FC Nantes, imposed punitive sanctions on our club and ordered CCFC to pay the fee with the threat of more punitive sanctions being imposed. All this before the full facts of the tragedy that befell Sala were known. Do you think that FIFA would have been as quick with their sanctions if Man City
had been involved?.
I don’t know if £104m. is reasonable but this is partly resulting from the lunacy of the wealth endowed on the PL by the likes of Sky.
You must remember that the City were relegated by a very small margin and the consequential loss claimed has been worked out by experts with in depth experience in matters such as this and not just football. The finances of football in general could not be considered reasonable. We have recently had a scenario with a club £1.5billion in debt paying nearly £400m in transfer fees, is that reasonable?
The problem is that there's no way of knowing that Sala would have changed anything. He could have got a season ending injury in his first game. He could have got run over by a bus. He could have got sent off. He could have not been happy at the club. There are all sorts of variables. I'm not a lawyer or a judge. It just seems like a really weak argument to me. And an unreasonable expectation.
Exactly, you say you are not a lawyer or a judge and that is why these professionals are hearing the case. Experts in statistics and probability appear in courts everywhere on a regular basis and lots of things we buy like insurances have premiums determined by them.
The CCFC legal team have employed such experts and they have come up with a figure in excess of £100m. It is up to the judges to eventually determine what is a reasonable figure. The bigger the figure the more I hope will be donated to the Sala family trust, a fund by the way ignored by the EFL, FIFA and the PFA.
It seems that, for whatever reason you have, you want our club to lose the case!
To say that this is extortion is showing crass naivety in the law. Our club could do nothing about the transfer being handled by illegitimate agents even the BA flight arranged by the club was turned down. My understanding is that Tan made a substantial contribution to the Sala family fund a gesture eschewed by the governing bodies involved. Tan, incidentally, has an exemplary record in Malaysia to endowments for good causes.
For the good of football FC Nantes need to be brought to account even if the club get no money out of it because my understanding is that in the event that FC Nantes having no adequate insurance in place then CCFC could be whistling Dixie for whatever sum is awarded.
You seem oblivious of the fact that the President and vice President of FC Nantes have been charged with fraud and money laundering by the French police and are awaiting trial. This is why it is even more important that the City win this case to rid football of some of the low life.
