There's another thing that bugs me about this election. In 2019 we were told to 'keep Corbyn out by not only the press but ironically by many in the PLP.

Now it's, keep the Conservatives out at all costs. Where were those people in 2019 who gave Johnson an 80+ majority? Many of the policies that labour offered in 2017 and 2019 the country has been crying out for.

Now, I'm constantly told to vote for a lying bast8rd who's better than the last lying bast8rd because he's from an 'umble background. The truth is, I don't give a sh*t what background anyone is from so long as they have integrity.

Like I said in my thread...f*ck 'em all.....except the Greens now....after that thread and reading the arguments for not voting for them...it convinced me I should.
    You're catching on, well done

          Re: Latest Opinion Polls

Polls have tightened slightly, although far too late to change the outcome noticeably.

Labour now "only" 15pts ahead compared to 20+, but remember the trouncing Labour received in 2019 happened when they were 11.5% behind.

Sunak has made several errors. The most glaring being to call the damned thing in the first place when early autumn would likely have seen significantly better economic news (possible rate cut, people more used to sustained lower inflation etc etc). The D Day own goal was absolutely ridiculous too.

But he has done well in the debates and he has impressed me in the last week, coming across quite forthright.

Only two days to go anyway, although it doesn't feel it. I have never seen less placards about or general chit chat about the election in work etc

It looks like a subliminal "vote Labour" message to me

Ha, definitely not Labour! That said I am relaxed about them coming in as I do subscribe to the general two term is best principle and I think Starmer will keep the cranks at bay and they will be far more competent than those in the senedd. Indeed, one benefit may be that it raises standards there as they won't be able to play their "but but but it's Westminsters fault!" card every time.

I also think it will be genuinely interesting to see how they do and th reaction of some of their supporters to the reality of governance post 2008

It's worth remembering that people can only vote for candidates that are put forward. There are plenty of inept AMs, MPs etc in all democratically elected houses around the world.

Every single Labour and Conservative MP is vetted at central office for compliance and subservience before they are allowed to stand. Parliament is now a highly controlled authoritarian institution.

Rain isn't as consistent as you. More like the cycle of day and night. Sunrise. Spend all day slagging off the tOrIEs. Sunset. That's more like it.

Propaganda is very interesting subject, especially when it can sway large groups of people. I think the ones who control the narratives are too clever for most of us. Edward Bernays was a genius the way he got women to start smoking harmful cigarettes. It was textbook groupthink, and once they made that breakthrough it was a piece of cake to make people act against their own best interests.
