Smoking lots of weed doesnt give you PTSD
Exactly, I’ve heard it with my own ears more than twice with people, makes me want to puke to be honest…..particularly when some suffer wars or abuse to get such a horrendous issue

So I understand the absolute importance of benefits, and the dignity it gives people. I also know that some people do take the piss but I know it's wholly not appropriate to blame people collectively or accuse them of being lazy etc, even if it does apply to some individuals, it doesn't apply to the collective.

But, I can also recognise that an ever growing welfare bill is not a good thing. It may be a result of a benign and caring government but it's also a result of societal or healthcare failure that wholly needs addressing.

The questions to ask here are why has the welfare bill surged since COVID. What has changed in how we live our lives that so many more are ill, feel ill, feel depressed, feel lonely, anxious, unhappy, despairing etc.

The answer isnt to blame people on benefits not to bury ones head in the sand, it's to get to the route of the issue and acknowledging there is an issue is part of that because things feel very unsustainable at the moment
One huge factor in my opinion (but an awful lot of people bury their heads in the sand on this issue) is that employers must shoulder a significant degree of blame.

I helped run an outsourced agency contracted to the then DHSS to encourage long term benefit claimants back to work. Indeed there were a few who you knew had no intention of finding work but they were very much in the minority. Most were desperate to find work and particularly find a way out of a numbingly boring existence. They dutifully followed every piece of advice they were given as to how to find work and how to present themselves to employers and the vast majority turned up regularly and issued very many job applications.

There were very few who actually found work, despite our best efforts and virtually in all cases the problem lay with the employers. There is a misconception that people on benefits are a liability and most employers would rather choose someone else who had a track record of regular work. Understandable I suppose, employers are only looking after themselves and they want to select what in their opinion is the best for themselves. However, the effect it has on often hard working people at heart just wanting a chance is devastating. So I certainly don't take the easy option by considering people on benefits shirkers. Very many are anything but.

Also, as an aside, I wonder how many people realise there is a vast underclass of people who are not lazy but just incompetent and unable to hold down a job and are therefore unemployable. I've seen many of these and their failure is not down to their own lack of effort but merely natural selection. All governments need a way of managing this phenomenon.

Disability benefits is different, if someone is physically disabled or clearly mentally then that’s a given. So many people seem to blag it these days, particularly if they’ve been claiming for years like a few I know. They literally couldn’t cope with the demands of working 35 hour week and all that comes with it these days. And this is the main issue, things are so expensive now, bills, food houses, doing anything out, even football is too much for some. How do you cope with that jump? So there are 1000’s who can’t get on the property ladder to start with? So why aren’t the government building more cheap starter homes to solve that massive issue? Why aren’t they instead handing over much needed accommodation to foreigners who have just arrived instead? We clearly can’t even look after own if we have 5 million on benefits? Shouldn’t we be sorting our own house out first basically, let’s face it, it’s a complete mess….

So you first said you know people who have ptsd from smoking too much weed .....which is incorrect ....thats agreed ?

People who are assessed as having ptsd from incidents like war , sexual assault , being violently assaulted , robbed etc ....often misuse cannabis , alcohol , cocaine etc to deal with the memories that follow them....to self medicate ....but someone who smokes lots of weed or is a life long boozer doesnt get ptsd from that

                        Hopefully thats explained things

Gives added weight to the most likely scenario being a Plaid led coalition with Labour.

Bit too close for comfort ? I think it was a combo of pills, acid, coke, crack then heroin for a few years. Then the stuff they got up too in order to live that way, homeless, crack dens, squats etc much of which was too grim to tell but I got the gist. Some people just don’t see the amber light, the red must have just disappeared too…..they had plenty of opportunities to stop but were just too cool and that to stop

Can’t see Cardiff going plaid surely? The main group of Welsh speakers are in canton/pontcanna area, which is with Ely, fairwater and pentrebane which are pretty unlikely to be plaid….

                                This is like pulling teeth
You said smoking weed caused ptsd

Weed , crack , booze , acid , heroin are not god for you but they dont cause ptsd , they are used by people to block out the flashbacks of war, car crash , serious sexual assault , child abuse

Most people who use drugs or alcohol to block out past experiences of war , abuse etc are unwell , not boring old twice a week heavy drinkrs down the pub

I dont have PTSD if that was your inference
