It feels as if the UK is catching up with much of continental Europe - seeing the traditional big parties of the centre left and the right implode (partly self-inflicted, partly due to pressure from outside) and new (often but not always) populist parties of the right and left replacing them - with some new centrist creation (like Macron's lot) emerging at the same time.

It is getting more volatile all the time.

Traditional Labour and Tory voters switching direct to Reform. Tories disappearing electorally and in membership across parts of their heartlands. Lib Dems and Greens hoovering up votes, seats and members from left and right. If the polls are correct the new Corbyn/Sultana party will attract significant numbers of Reform voters who formerly backed Labour.

The SNP and PC have got over their wobbles and will probably be major players in any future parliament. The slow move towards the nationalist and republican left in Northern Ireland could continue despite recent reactionary incidents (and there too the traditional so-called moderate nationalists and unionists have been supplanted).

The insurgent parties have joined the Lib Dems in arguing for PR. I wouldn't be surprised to see a coalition government under PR inside 10 years.
Which polls show significant movement from reform to the Corbyn/Sultana party Jon?

      2. Isn't it rather disingenuous for a country that invaded scores of others, often leaving behind complete social and political chaos (cf. They don't show that as far as I know.

I am extrapolating from the polls that show a big drop in support by younger voters for Reform at the same time as polls show very high support for Your Party from the same age group.

I am also looking at the polls that show very high levels of support from Reform voters (especially ex Red Wall) for a fully-funded public NHS, a wealth tax, and nationalisation of basic services and utilities - all of which sit better in the Corbyn-Sultana pitch than any other party (including the Greens), although there are still some doubts about ability to deliver (though that is an even bigger problem for Reform).

I am also looking at the very recent polling that shows Reform voters prefer Corbyn (and Sultana) by a distance to Starmer and his circle.

That is why I believe there is evidence that ex-Labour voters who recently backed Reform - not the UKIP core vote - will be attracted to the new party. There is a strand of social conservatism amongst the current Independent group in Parliament (who are likely to join the new party), but the main issue will be on immigration and how that argument plays out, and whether or not it is more important for voters (including Reform voters) than cost of living, public services, public control, wealth taxes and the other key elements of the new party's pitch.

Angela Rayner has purchased a third property. She recently acquired a seaside apartment in Hove, on England’s south coast, for over £700,000. This adds to her existing residences:

A home in her Ashton-under-Lyne constituency (bought in 2016 for around £375,000, now valued at about £650,000), and

A grace-and-favour ministerial flat in Admiralty House, Westminster.

Would you like to explain how someone on an MP's salary has managed to accumulate two houses, forget the third as its grace-and-favour :hehe: and considering her previous employments were care worker & union official.
Jesus managed to feed 5000 from five loaves of bread and two fish., but this miracle is nowhere near the miracle that miss Raynor has managed to pull off!! labours champagne socialism in full view and they do not give a fck who sees it.

Would you like to ask her to make available two of her residences to others in need ?

Your persistent berating of others when you voted for this crap is hypocrisy at its finest, its time you took a rest to evaluate what your party is doing to the UK and start issuing some apologies. I would suggest you start with James who has ripped you a new arsehole time after time on this MB with reasoned thought out answers only for you to have one response, he's done you like a kipper SONNY. James has the patience of a saint trying to reason with you I'll just call you a cash in hand FRAUD, your reputation in the trade precedes you.

I have also just read that on various X and reddit pages. Maybe the £4.7m 'wealth' figure includes declared donations to run her office (standard for senior politicians) or maybe it is just made up crap. There is no evidence for significant personal wealth that I can see. The story about her buying a second/third home in London may be true (if she is doing the buying) but the alleged cost has jumped up £100k in 24 hours. None of the figures are evidenced.

She doesn't have major investments, she doesn't do paid work outside Parliament, she may be getting brown envelopes from donors or lobbyists - but no one has given any evidence I can see.

              This piece looks most reasonable:

Is Angela Rayner a millionaire? Discover the UK's Deputy Prime Minister's real net worth, built from years in politics, public service, and real estate.

Always fair to be on the look out for grifters and hypocrites, but Angela Raynor seems to attract a particular type of venom that is less to do with her views or actions as a senior politician, and more to do with her sex and her background.

I disagree with what she did with buying her Council home in 2008 - then selling it in 2015.

We are mostly on the same page about Right To Buy - although I am less critical of the individuals who took advantage and more of the politicians who made it happen.

But she is not a hypocrite on that - just wrong - she always supported Right To Buy (although like a lot of other Labour people who has no problem with and took advantage of RTB, she salved her conscience by arguing the discounts were too high).

But the latest controversy is not about Right To Buy. It is a cheap and hypocritical shot from James Cleverley for the Tories. It looks as if he has succeeded in making himself look stupid. Can you believe.....? :hehe:

Well, we are talking about the bloke who tried to manipulate the 43rd ballot of the last Tory leadership election to his advantage and ended up being knocked out of a contest he seemed to be winning :hehe:

I actually like her in the sense she is down to earth. Buy she rubs people up the wrong way. And when she talks of "Tory scum" she loses any right to avoid criticism.
