Re: Zahawi joins Reform
He was sacked for tax avoidance to the tune of millions, heated his stables with taxpayers money whilst inflicting austerity on the poorest in society, what’s not to like.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostFair point. But other valid criticism thrown at them are a lack of experience, being a one man band, and lacking business credibility etc. Less legitimate criticisms include accusations of Islamobhobia. This helps in all those respects.
I've always found him likeable, combative. As the dust settles he will be an asset for Reform, but you are right on your point too.
What they would really like is a former Labour MP

In fairness to Jimbo when he said he liked him, as usual, he was trying to be contrary. I'm pretty sure Zahawi has never been liked by anyone ever.Originally posted by ninian opinian View PostHe was sacked for tax avoidance to the tune of millions, heated his stables with taxpayers money whilst inflicting austerity on the poorest in society, what’s not to like.

Nadhim Zahawi a few years ago tweeted, "I'm not British born Mr Nigel Farage, I'm as British as you are. Your comments are offensive and racist. I would be frightened to live in a country run by you". A man of principle then...

Re: Zahawi joins Reform
He has always come across as polite to me but he completely tarnished his reputation with the tax scandal (+ his reaction to it) and his behaviour at the end of the Boris era - I don't think I have ever seen anything quite as ridiculous in uk politics. Backed Johnson, took the Chancellor job when Sunak fled and then called for Johnson resignation 2 days later because 'the british public deserve better' - that isn't a man acting with any integrity..Originally posted by JamesWales View PostFair point. He comes with baggage for sure. But people forget, gloss over, don't care about baggage in due course and focus on what someone brings going forwardOriginally posted by Eric Cartman View PostHe has always come across as polite to me but he completely tarnished his reputation with the tax scandal (+ his reaction to it) and his behaviour at the end of the Boris era - I don't think I have ever seen anything quite as ridiculous in uk politics. A man with no integrity should be perfect for Reform.Originally posted by Eric Cartman View PostHe has always come across as polite to me but he completely tarnished his reputation with the tax scandal (+ his reaction to it) and his behaviour at the end of the Boris era - I don't think I have ever seen anything quite as ridiculous in uk politics. I’m a little puzzled as to why an ex-MP joining a minority party is considered to be such big news. I guess it demonstrates what a stranglehold Reform have managed to gain over the British media.

Probably because they lead in the polls TLG. And because it interested detractors enough to comment! He is a former chancellor of the Exchequer too (although who hasn't been recently?!) so he is, as you know, a big name.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostA man with no integrity should be perfect for Reform.

Chicken and egg. Reform lead in the polls because the dummies that inhabit these islands are force-fed their brainless rhetoric on a daily basis.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostProbably because they lead in the polls TLG. As for the latest Tory tosspot to have joined their ranks, I'd expect it to be big news if he was a sitting MP who had defected from one party to another, but this dreadful individual isn't an MP. He's a has-been.
