Re: Iran's supreme leader reportedly dead
That is one way of looking at this latest massive breach of international law.
But maybe the opposite will be the effect.
When an American - or Israeli - missile massacres 85 people (mainly children) in a girls’ elementary school in Minab, the effect may be to turn the peoples anger against the ones firing the missiles, and deflect from anger against the regime.

Maybe they should have left him alone so he could continue killing thousands of protesters every week?Originally posted by jon1959 View PostThat is one way of looking at this latest massive breach of international law.

Big fan of illegal regime change are you?Originally posted by Wales-Bales View PostMaybe they should have left him alone so he could continue killing thousands of protesters every week?
I don’t dispute that the Iranian regime is oppressive and murderous - but that should not excuse or legitimise the actions carried out by the USA and Israel - without domestic constitutional approval and in defiance of the UN and international law.
Are you a Davos fan now? It is getting harder and harder to work out which fence you are sitting on whilst triangulating and watching developments.

I didn't really express an opinion, was more a case that this is their big chance, if they take it, they may not get another.Originally posted by jon1959 View PostThat is one way of looking at this latest massive breach of international law.

Death toll at girls school hit by US or Israeli missile yesterday revised up to nearly 150 with many more injured! Another triumph for the Bored Of Peace!Originally posted by jon1959 View PostThat is one way of looking at this latest massive breach of international law.

Seems odd though, what has Dubai done? Is it just because there’s an American airbase nearby? All that Arab money that’s gone into making that place what it is, not my cup of tea, but they won’t be happy….Originally posted by JamesWales View PostThey thought it was Jew-bye and got excited?

Re: Iran's supreme leader reportedly dead
Ordinarilly, I take anything the US, Israeli or Iranian Governments say with a pinch of salt, but there seems to be something to this story and, in the world as it was for the first sixty years of my life it would see those responsible facing widespread condemnation from all sides. However, these are bizarre times where what I thought were the normal rules do not apply - killing a hundred and more schoolchildren as part of what is widely considered to be an illegal war should have Trump and Netanyahu firmly on the back foot in any world with morals and a sense of what is right and wrong, but I'm not sure it will in 2026.Originally posted by jon1959 View PostDeath toll at girls school hit by US or Israeli missile yesterday revised up to nearly 150 with many more injured! Meanwhile, I see Starmer has caved under the first small sign of American pressure - wtf are "defensive strikes" by America in the context of this conflict?

US and western interests presumably. I suspect the hotel wasn't the target, but who knows.Originally posted by goats View PostSeems odd though, what has Dubai done? The Iranian regime is potentially coming to an end. It has a lot of enemies and I guess it's hitting out in all directions.
Killed upto 30,000 of its own people this year alone, it won't care about a few tourists in Dubai.
No idea where all this ends but I feel it's too far to go back to being the current Iranian regime now, personally.
