    Re: Iran's supreme leader reportedly dead

    Trump has been anointed by Jesus, and the illegal attack on Iran is all part of God’s divine plan!

    So that’s all OK then!

        Oh dear.

        Wonder if Gabbard still has any of these T-shirts left to sell.

              Thanks for posting. I wonder if the Trump contingent here will bother reading it though if it’s in The Guardian.

                Bush Jnr was carrying out the work of God when he went into Iraq as well. Trump isn't that hot on God and his selective messages (usually about oil) although he's surrounded himself in the finest christian fanatics a man can find. And there are people loving this, some sick, sick bastards on this earth.

                  Iran's new leader appointed - Mojtaba Khamenei

                  Incredible coincidence that he has the same surname as the last one!

                      Not only that, but he's not going to be too chipper about the assassination of his old man.

                      It's also been suggested that gen Zs in Iran could never understand their parents' hate towards America. Now they do.

                      Nice one, Trump.

                        Its also been suggested that Iranians are none too chipper about his old man killing tens of thousands of their own people earlier this year.

                            Is this what the war is all about then? Regime change to free the Iranian people from tyranny of a horrible religious junta.

                            There is no straight answer from the Trump administration on the reasons why this started or the objective which lets it finish. I have heard:

                            - Israel was going to bomb so we joined in because we knew Iran would relaliate;
                            - Despite assurances last year that Iran's nuclear capacity was obliterated, magically they were a couple of weeks away from a bomb making capability;
                            - It was needed to remove its missile making and use capapbility to protect Israel, US assets and surrounding states.

                            Yet apart from:

                            - A cruise missile killing hundreds of Iranian children;
                            - An escalation dragging in neighbouring states;
                            -Blockades of strategic waterways harming global trade and significantly reducing oil supplies;
                            - Cypriots questioning the continuing need for UK bases on their island........the only tangible thing those that seem to support another Middle East war can point to is the half change on a nameplate on a bunker under Tehran.

                            Even then it's a bit like replacing the Taliban with the Taliban, only a lot quicker!

                              We don't know, do we. I shar the same fears as you. But it would be nice if the moral outrage was more evenly distributed on occasion.

                              I was just pointing out that the Iranians are probably not chipper about their leader.

                                You make it sound like people can't hold equal views that the Iranian regime is hideous and wrong and the US/Israeli attack on and independent country is wrong.

                                Lots of people (I suspect you and others who post here were amongst them) believed that Saddam Hussein's regime was obscene. It killed far more of its own citizens be they Marsh Arabs, Shia or Kurds, than the Mullahs. Yet these people were able to see that the 2nd Gulf War that captured and killed him was a sham. They probably changed their politics as a result.

                                The Netanyahu/Trump escapade is no more legitimate and justifiable than that and to act that it is somehow different is self-delusional.
