Re: Greatest Band/Group……..Got to Be……
Talking of bands and music, it's been noticeable how quickly 60s music is disappearing. I got into pop music in the late 80s and music from the 60s was still played on Radio 1 if I remember correctly. 10 years ago, 60s music would still be played occasionally on Radio 2. Now it's hardly heard at all apart from on specialist stations. 70s music is going the same way. 80s music now seems to be the "old" music on general stations.
I bought my first single when I was 13 in 1991. Then, the end of the 60s was 22 years ago. Now, 1969 is 55 years ago.
Parents of children are of the age where "their" music happened in the 90s and 2000s. Time and music moves on, but there's a wealth of great music that has died out, never to be heard again.

I had a few hours of Boom Radio today, dedicated to the music of the 50s, 60s & 70s. I did read that the BBC are considering bringing out a similar station.Originally posted by Eric the Half a Bee View PostTalking of bands and music, it's been noticeable how quickly 60s music is disappearing. Greatest rock band ever are the mighty Venom. Sludge can stick Black Sabbath in his arse, these are the real riff masters. At War With Satan was a legendary album which has never been beaten and never will be.

Good laugh but a bit of a comedy act

I was a steward at the Castle gig.Originally posted by Moodybluebird View PostI saw Queen live twice, once in the Castle and once in the Capitol and to say they we're mediocre would be somewhat flattering. At the time I was a fan so I didn't go to the gigs with the intention of putting them down. But they were awful, a massive disappointment. Possibly because there are so many overdubs on their studio recordings, they couldn't hope to replicate it live. And Freddie Mercury was vocally very poor too.
They didn't come close to the performance levels of other bands I saw live at the time, like Jethro Tull, Wishbone Ash, 10cc, Deep Purple and of course the Moody Blues. Seeing and hearing those bands perform was a great experience but only served to underline how poor and underwhelming Queen were live.
