The timing is unbelievable, after two shambolic defensive performances without him!

Still, IF the money can be used sensibly for a decent Striker, replacement, and a new keeper it could come good!

But he doesn't want to leave. I'm far from an ITK but as reliable a source as is possible (other than the player himself) has stated that the hold up is due to MM being happy in Cardiff and not wanting this move. Apparently the finances of the deal are favourable to both City and MM.

He obviously likes a challenge.

I seem to remember that there was a sell on clause. Thinking back, there was some surprise among Arsenal fans that they were letting him go for nothing and, logically, there would be one wouldn’t there?

Daland might be but he's a year older than McGuinness now. If we're going to make serious money on him, he needs to be very good immediately.

Possibly, but centre halves go on a little longer than other positions, so retain their value into their late 20's. Look at the money paid for Kilman. And we once paid a huge £75,000 (in those days it was a lot of money for a second division club) for a 28 year old Dave Roberts. Great player, pity about the injuries.

We will miss McGuinness, he’s good in both boxes, and has all the tools to make an EPL defender. However, if a player gets a chance to triple his salary, and the club stand to get 10 million, in these days where agents call the shots, it’s a no brainier I’m afraid.

We have managed to get decent money for a player that was deemed not good enough for us not so long ago be loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday - not often we have been able to develop a player that someone wants to buy off us?
