    Re: Oasis reunion

I first saw them in 1994. At a bar in Philadelphia. I still think their first record is amazing. But it all went downhill from there.

Buzzing about a reunion. It's just nice too isn't it? I know it's probably motivated by money, but seeing two brother come together is good isn't it?
steady on now old fruit. lets not put them in the Bowie/Byrne camp just yet.

I think they are up there as one the UK s best type bands . They have a very homegrown feel unlike others like U2, Stones, Zepp, Beatles who sought worldwide fame and music.
what kind of sophistry is this? The first sniff of cash and they forgot their roots and ****ed off to London.

              Re: Oasis reunion

              weird fact:

The album cover for Be Here Now shows a car in a swimming pool.
I have thrown a paper aeroplane over that pool!

I was on one of those useless "team building events" at Stocks Country club, ; we had to write down instructions for a colleague to fold paper into an aeroplane, and then throw said aeroplane over that pool. Mine went furthest so I won a bottle of cheap plonk, which was undrinkable.

IMG_4753.jpg Don’t bother booking overpriced tickets for a naff stadium gig….go see these instead!

Next Tuesday at The Moon Cardiff. Are they better than Oasis? Definitely/Maybe….although that album was pretty good!

It's probably not ok to say this but there is no doubt in my mind that 60's music was the best. It conveys the sense of excitement and optimism for the future which prevailed at the time, with the associated feel-good factor which is in complete contrast to the present day. It is impossible to explain to anyone who wasn't around in the 60's (or was too young at the time) the impact that the music had - such a contrast to the crooners of the 1950's for example!

The 60s saw the rise several genres, including rock, pop, folk, soul, R&B, and jazz. This diversity allowed for a wide variety of sounds and styles and also saw a surge in musical experimentation and introduced new sounds, such as psychedelic rock, folk rock, and Motown.

Interesting that you should say that about about kids today also enjoying 60's music. We have a couple of 60's compilation CDs in our car and our teenage grandchildren enjoy listening to them and to us singing along. Well, they say they do.....!

Millions of people don’t know anything. A band is not great unless they have fewer than 35 followers.

now this is just silly. No one is saying that Oasis haven't sold records, but quantity doesn't always mean quality. Regardless, music is subjective, one mans meat is another man's poison. As has been said, Definitely Maybe, Whats the story and Masterplan were superb pieces of music, thereafter their output was music by numbers, chewing gum for the ears on a par with Steps and Keane.

my list of bands was in response to their not being anything worth listening to today. there is plenty out there, music has never been so accessible and it is easy to find.

                          I'm taking you mean Damefrisor

TVAM are quality, they were playing psychfest last year, and the set was trippy as ****. The shrooms didn't help things, but it made for an altogether wonderful experience.

The Moon is a great venue in Cardiff. That gig is just £8 on the door. I quite like their stuff. Didn't realise they were from Austin.

That sh*t heavy Baroque of the late 1600s was never as good as the dope stuff of the late 1500s. F*cking youth of yesterday.
