Well it all comes down to the expertise of the manager and none are perfect of course. However, the manager's decision is what matters and of course all of us armchair supporters can be accused of bias, ignorance and a lot more besides. As it happens the only grouch I've got with this test series is that Australia is so far down the rankings at the moment. I would have preferred NZ or SA this year.

England have had players from Barbados, Ireland, South Africa, Scotland, New Zealand and presumably a plethora of other nations play for them, oh sorry, and Welsh players.

If they can do it, I assume other nations can.

Ergo, there is more than just the England team for Welsh players. Does that clear it up?

To be honest, good on you if you support England at cricket, nothing wrong with it - it's only sport. Just accept you are a massive ****ing hypocrite when cheer against them at any other sport.

No, it doesn’t and won’t do until you produce a list of test quality Welsh players who turned down England to play for someone else.

I read once one of the biggest obstacles to developing a Wales national team is Glamorgan’s opposition and a number of commercial/political reasons involving Welsh government and Cardiff City council.

It may have been a rabid Welsh nationalist article though so I know I questioned the latter.

Glamorgan have been vocal in the past about its opposition.

Glamorgan have been vocal in the past about its opposition.

Certainly in the case of football and cricket, Wales benefitted from the vital part the valleys and it's southern coastal towns and cities played in maintaining the British Empire in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries through coal mining. Just before the sun set on the Empire, a string of football teams (including Wrexham in the north) and Glamorgan cricket team were invited to join competitions that had consisted solely of English teams up until then. It was the English who did the inviting, they wanted Welsh teams in their main competitions.

I have my doubts whether we'd have four teams in the EFL or a county playing first class cricket if the subject of Welsh clubs entering what were English competitions had been delayed for, say, forty years, but, hardly surprisingly, the Welsh teams involved can recognise a good thing when they see one and have fought to preserve their status when. it came under threat.

The consequence of this in cricket is that a situation has been created where Ireland and Scotland have their own teams which can play against the best in the game in some competitions, while the side calling themseleves Wales play second class games against the likes of Cornwall, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. It's not a perfect situation, but I'm not aware of any desire within Welsh cricket for a change to a situation where the avenue which leads to Welsh cricketers representing the English national team is closed - who would gain from such a move?

And both the Welsh football and rugby teams make up their sides with players lets face it are not Welsh.

Never really understood anyone who 'supports' England (at anything). Just can't see how anyone can identify with them, granted if you have English parents etc

I'm not one of these dribbling tools who is rabidly anti English either. They're our closest neighbours, some think there's a sporting rivalry but in reality I doubt they give us a second thought.

Sports wise and especially football I'm at best ambivalent towards how they do even though the last two European Championships have provided a wry smile by failing to win them. That said, I don't mind their players, it's more the media and some of the fuuckwits that support them I like to see them continue to go so close but no cigar.

I thought that until I saw their reaction to beating us in 2016, they still go on about it.

Will do but to be fair it's slightly different isn't it being that Welsh players play for England in cricket, it is the England and Wales Cricket Board. The first Ashes I had an interest in was because of Simon Jones and then next one was Geraint Jones. Didn't an Irishman captain them in some form of cricket for a while as well?

I think some of the Ingerlund support are dribbling twats, their national side does tend to attract every village fuuckwit from all over their country.

It goes hand in hand with their witty songs about German bombers, Germany never winning a war (they got a German coach mind) and No Surrendering to the IRA.

Some of their may go on about 2016 but we sholud be way down their list of priorities.
