You do seem to be slightly dismissive of someone breaking what it is a pretty amazing record tbh.

And as I said earlier, Kane is the kind of player who I struggle to pinpoint exactly what he is world class at, but his record speaks for itself. In reality I think he is very very good at every aspect of being a forward, even if at each individual discipline he is perhaps not the best.

Hes definitely world class at finishing.

He hasn’t broken anything yet and even if he comes back next season it’s far from a given even if he plays another 5 season in the PL by which point he will be 38.

If the record was that important to him he wouldn’t have gone to Germany.

It seems to be others who want him to break the record more than the player himself,

Mediocre teams Blackburn bought the premier league and Newcastle were far from mediocre in the 90s. Silly man.

As pointed out Haaland is averaging nearly a goal a game for Norway, hardly a powerhouse of international.
Haaland has scored big goals in important games to win trophies. That’s where Kane falls down imo for both Spurs and England and latter stages of CL with Bayern. CL final with Spurs.etc etc

Besides, my point was more that people go on about Kane coming back so he can get the record but is it that big of a deal when itÂ’s likely
to be beaten by Haaland. If he does come back and break the record he might only have it for 3/4 years.

He’s over a goal a game for Norway, 48 in 45. Phenomenal for a country of Norway’s traditional standing in world football……nobody to come within touching distance of Dixie’s record season though.

🙄 the original point I made in the thread and the post you replied to was me talking aboth the Premier League record.

No-one had said he doesnt get goals, he obviously does, but he pads his goals against the lesser teams and international minnows more than any other top striker and imo hasn’t proven himself to be a big game winner.

He won’t be breaking any records for goals in semi finals and finals thats for sure. 5 in 25.

Kane plays for a team that routinely scores close to 100 goals a season. And have had 7 of the last 10 top scorers in the Bundesliga. If he's not a flat track bully, he certainly is benefitting from a great advantage. If he comes back to Spurs aged 34 how many goals is he going to score a season? And how many seasons will he play in the EPL? I cant see him breaking Shearer's record.

I honestly reckon that Shearer’s record is false, football didn’t start in 1992. Do we write off Shearer’s 23 pre Premier League goals? Jimmy Greaves has the most top flight goals, Shearer is 5th. It’s an insult to ignore pre 1992 statistics.
