Otherwise you end up with Lewis Koumas in the squad.
we have a poor squad by Wales' standards. it's as poor as I can remember in terms of the number of top level players.
shoehorning your best players into a system that makes no sense only serves to make you play less than the sum of your parts. we don't want to go down that road , certainly not to accommodate rubin colwill, who's time will still come.

I raise you our squads in the late noughties. Who remembers the two Carls *shudders*. Jermaine Easter and Freddie Eastwood as the next great hopes

There's a lack of depth but we have 9 players who play in the best league in the world and much of the rest play in what must be the best second tier

Get David Attenborough to a safe-house, wrap Mary Berry in cotton wool and someone please check up on Ant and Dec.

After 13 months away from international football, celebrity grim reaper Aaron Ramsey is back in the Wales squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifier games.

        -

Wales will play England in a friendly at Wembley Stadium on Thursday, October 9, before hosting Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium the following Monday.

However, it does leave a window of opportunity for the infamous Aaron Ramsey curse to strike once again.

Typically, when Ramsey scores a goal, the showbiz world holds its collective breath, as a celebrity often dies in the following day or so. There’s a proven track record of this, with more than 25 celebs falling foul of the curse.

Most recently, Ramsey scored the winning goal for Pumas in a league game against Atlas - which was followed by the death of Giorgio Armani.

Here are the celebrities who are alleged victims of the Aaron Ramsey curse, and when they died.

        Ted Kennedy - August 25, 2009

        Andreas Monte - October 16, 2009

        Osama Bin Laden - May 2, 2011

        Steve Jobs - October 5, 2011

        Muammar Gaddafi - October 20, 2011

        Whitney Houston - February 11, 2012

        Ray Williams - March 22, 2013

        Ken Norton - September 18, 2013

        Paul Walker - November 30, 2013

        Rubin Carter - April 20, 2014

        Robin Williams - August 11, 2014

        David Bowie - January 10, 2016

        Alan Rickman - January 14, 2016

        Nancy Reagan - March 6, 2016

        Nicky Hayden - May 22, 2017

        Gregg Allman - May 27, 2017

        Bruce Forsyth - August 18, 2017

        Stephen Hawking - March 14, 2018

        Eric Bristow - April 5, 2018

        Burt Reynolds - September 6, 2018

Keith Flint and Luke Perry - March 4, 2019

        Kenneth Kaunda - June 17, 2021

        June Brown - April 4, 2022

        Olivia Newton-John - August 8, 2022

Yes to be fair that was arguably worse, but we would have had Bellamy in the side, and Bale and Ramsey starting to come through.

For most of the time we've had 1 or 2 elite level players - playing at the top end of the premier league and in Europe.
          We don't currently have that.

Smaller nations with a sprinkling of elite level players are a very different prospect to teams with a bigger pool of average players IMO.

He also scored 11 goals last season. Probably more than the vast majority of our (Wales) forwards can say for themselves.
I was reading a discussion on Swansea this season somewhere and it was being said that Cullen had rather been left behind by all of the signings they’d made in the summer.

The real question is how much is Jason Koumas paying to have his son included? Has he actually done anything apart from disappoint for Stoke?
This season. This off of a post on page 1

Rubin Colwill 11 starts (1 sub) 4 goals, 4 assists
Liam Cullen 3 starts (5 sub) 0 goals, 1 assist
Aaron Ramsey 3 starts (3 sub) 1 goal, 0 assists
              Nathan Broadhead 3 start

No doubt Rubin is in better form albeit in a weaker division, but I should imagine international players are afforded more time to regain their form to keep squads together.

I suspect Lewis Koumas' stats would read 0 starts, 0 goals, 0 assists.

                  Cullen's Championship stats last season:

                  35 (+7) appearances, 11 goals

                  Colwill's Championship stats last season:

                  24 (+19) appearances, 1 goal

If they do play in the same position, it's not difficult to see how Cullen got ahead of Colwill in Bellamy's thinking.
"Not a rhetorical question". Ok, Dave. OK. :hehe:

Cullen has scored 3 goals in the last 9 months and no goal involvements this season, but hey, form and consistency.

Like I said in my original post, Bellamy doesnt fancy Rubin, thats his prerogative as the manager, just say it instead of giving the lad false hope.

Oh yeah. BBC website has it as a mens fixture. I should have looked at the date more closely though.

It wasn’t a rhetorical question. You stated Colwill and Cullen play in the same position. I haven’t watched Cullen that often, but whenever I have he’s appeared to be playing further forward than Colwill. I’d have classified him as a forward (but not a striker as such), while I’d classify Rubin as a midfielder. But you said they play in the same position.

Is it just as simple as you were wrong?

They are both attacking midfielders / 2nd strikers or behind the striker, whatever you want to call it these days, although Cullen did play some games as a 9 when Swansea didnt have one, maybe where he got his goals, who knows, but I bow to your 50 years watching the game. I must be wrong. You're right. You have the last word Shrimpy.

I think Rubin is the only person who knows exactly where Bellamy stands. I think Bellamy leaves the door open to shut down any more questions about it but it ain't happening, and Rubin isn't for him. He's not going to play for Bellamy, and that's fine for us, as he'll be fit. He's not going to start over Harry Wilson either, so doesn't really affect Wales.

I think Rubin should be in this squad but I take the positive of if he's not then he stays injury free.
My question is when will he ever fit in this poor squad with Bellamy as manager, wtf does he have to do ?

Bellamy picks the team, not us or the press. Now lets concentrate on the Wrex...I mean the Burton game
