Re: Wales Squad
Such a pessimist. Why cant we compete with England?Originally posted by William Treseder View PostA bigger question for me, is why are we playing England in a friendly ?.
It’s hardly gonna inspire confidence before the Belgium game, getting the runaround from the real flat track bullies.
The players all match fit as well, so what’s the point?

Re: Wales Squad
Err, because they have a vastly superior squad to us. So have Belgium, but that’s a challenge we have to take on The England game we don’t. So why has it been arranged so close to the qualifier?Originally posted by J R Hartley View PostSuch a pessimist. Why cant we compete with England?

Re: Wales Squad
Belgium have a superior squad shall we not bother playing them too? In fact, if we do somehow qualify for the finals why bother turning up because the opposition will mostly have superior squads.Originally posted by William Treseder View PostErr, because they have a vastly superior squad to us. Someone who is more interested and clued up on international football maybe be able to answer better but Im guessing as we only have 1 actual qualifier in a 2 game window then we have to play a friendly. England away is not very far to travel before the big game on Monday and gives our lads the chance to play in a defensive and counter attacking shape we are most likely going to need to adopt against Belgium.

A decent reply, except for the condescending 1st paragraph. My take on it is it’s a complete waste of time and energy. Players play enough games as it is, especially the lower league players.Originally posted by J R Hartley View PostBelgium have a superior squad shall we not bother playing them too? We’ll learn nothing from the England game that the players don’t already know. Every man and his dog knows when we play Belgium, we’ll have little possession, will have to defend like crazy and take what little chances we’ll create We could pick up an injury or 2.as well in a friendly.
Better to keep the powder dry for the Belgium game, and give it a good go. Just my opinion though.

I could be wrong but I think you have to play a game / friendly to make it fair on Belgium who will be playing 3 days earlier. As I said, someone who has more of an interest in the international team may be able to answer.Originally posted by William Treseder View PostA decent reply, except for the condescending 1st paragraph. As much as I want Wales to do well and have been to many inernational games I am now finding so many international breaks a bit of hinderance to the football season.

In fairness, this article does seem to imply that he is a striker https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football...s/cn0rpz6064zoOriginally posted by J R Hartley View PostBoth CAM's according to many of the stat sites but Shrimpy knows best.

Re: Wales Squad
Does it? It also reads that they finally got the 2 actual strikers they wanted and Cullen will have to dorp back deeper.Originally posted by Der Kaiser View PostIn fairness, this article does seem to imply that he is a striker https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football...s/cn0rpz6064zo
With those two vying to be Swansea's centre-forward, Cullen's recent opportunities have come in a less advanced role.
It is the same sort of position in which he has been deployed – and has impressed – in Craig Bellamy's Wales side
If he is an out and out centre forward and not a CAM/2nd striker then his goals per game ratio isnt great. Even if he did score last night, much to the glee of one particular Cardiff fan.
