    Re: Transfer Embargo?

We don't know the full facts behind this, but in the past couple of weeks, when you've had BBM being questioned by the press about his transfer plans for January, it must be a massive disappointment to him, to hear this news.

It beggars belief that our club sat at the top of the table, with the scrutinty that we're bound to court, ends up in a potentially embarrassing situation like this. If not sorted out very quickly, it must undermine all of BBM's plans to strengthen our squad for the rest of the season. Would it put off some clubs loaning players to us or put off some players joining us? You surely have to once again question the admin side of our club, don't you?

Maybe it's just a storm in a teacup & will be forgotten about next Monday afternoon. Who knows with CCFC? Lol.

      Re: Transfer Embargo?

The accounts were always made available in late February/early March in the past. Not sure if this is a new rule brought in recently or whether it was always there and there was a delay of at least two months between our accounts being filed with the EFL and Companies House. Didn’t we have an embargo like this a few years ago around this time?

I wouldn’t say for sure that it’s down to the clowns in charge forgetting they were due at the end of the year, but I wouldn’t rule it out either, just like it wouldn’t be beyond them to just be not aware that Bagan, Ng and Wintle’s contracts were running out.

They are the full ones though I think - https://find-and-update.company-info...filing-history

I suppose the rule is there so the EFL doesn't have to go searching for them themselves. An embargo, even if temporary, seems over the top however when they can easily check it if a club doesn't forward them.

Glen Williams has said "I’ve learned the reason for the delay and it was due to totally unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances out of the club’s hands."

That's hard to believe. The accounts were published in February, so they had plenty of time before the 31st December deadline.

That year isn't due until 28th February this year.

This embargo apparently relates to the 2024/25 accounts.

I think you're getting confused between EFL rules and Companies House rules.

You're right - it does say 2024/25 accounts by the 31st December 2025 - I'd missed that. That makes the rule even more stupid. Our official reporting deadline for that financial year is 28th February 2026 - why should we have to submit it 2 months early? Other clubs might have dates even later in the year.

Still should do it if it's the rules though.

Judging by the guidance in the Twitter post, this relates to clubs who were in the Championship in 2024/25. If this is not a new rule (and I don't think it is as I believe CCFC has previously been under an embargo at this time of year for the exact same thing), then the club would have been well aware of it, having been in the Championship for decades.

I can't believe the club's staff are so incompetent that they didn't realise this applied after relegation to League One. My suspicion is it involves a bit of creative accounting, so to speak.

Ah it's always good to remember that however well on the pitch things are going (obviously it is still league 1)..
We ultimately are still run in a fairly amateur manner.

Why doesn't Glen Williams a supposed journalist state what these circumstances were or the club. Sounds like a load of bollox.

Big call to say they are so incompetent they didn't realise this applied.🤣

                          Re: Transfer Embargo?

Limited companies have 9 months to file accounts to Companies House , EFL requires 7 months for submission.

The FD may have got his deadline wrong and if the club says it will be sorted in the week, then there appears to be no issue.

There is an issue if the people running the club are too incompetent to submit accounts on time.

people on twitter blaming Tan - I doubt he's responsible for filing the accounts personally

Not if it’s resolved within a week , and the club have also insisted it will not affect their transfer plans this month despite seeing a number of players go on loan.
