I had a conversation a few weeks back with a surly and relatively reclusive young man who is a relative of my partner and I mentioned to him that he seemed to be more communicative in recent months. He told me that he thinks that magic mushrooms had given him more of a communion with nature (my words, not his) and had made a huge difference to his life recently.
Having only had one experience with hallucogenics (a mate having spiked my Newcastle Brown with LSD in the New Moon club in the late seventies) I listened to him with interest - and last night there was a talk on such things by an expert* in Bridgwater that I attended.
It seems that psilocybin is at the extreme end of the drug spectrum in that harm against others is practically zero (alcohol being at the other extreme in that category) and that self-damage was minimal and overdosing almost impossible, if I remember rightly. Many of you hip dudes on here will know far more about the subject than me, of course.
As it's classed as a Cat A drug it's illegal to even pick the mushrooms in a field, which seems a strange, serious crime.
And now to my question (at last, they holler!), has anyone on here heard of anyone being arrested for such a thing.
Imagining the plod hiding in the bushes and dragging people down the nick and it resulting in a criminal record (which may jeopardise job opportunities and some foreign travel) seems rather harsh.
*An expert in the field perhaps :-)
